"Nice ride to have"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

So far the alternator at around 50,000.

Battery at 30k.

Belt and tensioner at 40k.

Tie rods and ball joints at 70k.

Needed new power lock switches, center console hinge (cheap plastic).

Cheap interior materials and a lot of window problems.

General comments?

It's not a bad car. Most of the problems are minor. Basically the windows and the interior bother me the most.

I still love my car though. It's got decent acceleration with the 3.4L. I have put a K&N conical air filter, Mobil 1 synthetic, transmission and muffler, black outs on the back and front turn signals. Silver on the scoops and rear Camaro lettering. It came out real nice, I love the way my car looks.

Handling is great. It saved my ass a couple of times. It has great emergency handling which I think is real important.

It's not a winter car at all. It's so frustrating being fast on the road in summer, then slowest in the winter.

I think the Camaro is a decent car. It looks great, handles great, but has some problems.

But I would take a Camaro over a Mustang. Fords have terrible electrical problems. So far I seen a couple of old Lincolns on fire, and I have seen recalls about ignition problems that may cause fires. The Taurus has a worthless transmission, the Topaz has been to the shop a lot. They could keep the Focus. Just an Rscort with a new body to me. I have heard too many horror stories about Ford and Chrysler that I would never buy one.

Overall the Camaro is not bad for the price. Nice performance and great looks. But if you want something a little more dependable you could get a Civic and soup it up and still get blown away by a Camaro.

Man, I really think its interesting that you can even compare a z28 camaro to a ford focus, or even an all american classic like the ford mustang. Personally, I strongly believe that any mustang with the 5.0 V8 would smoke a camaro. I own a 1990 mustang c4 notchback and theres not a camaro within 300 miles that can touch me. my only competition so far has been another mustang and a custom 2004 GTO.. with the exception of some true oldschool american muscle cars theres not a chance your camaro would touch me either. I am a previous 93 camaro owner and currently, along with my mustang, I own a 1998 formula firebird. both cars get around better than that camaro did when I had it, and I truly think that you should look at investing in a car with some guts to it, sure, a camaro carries a tradition.. but there is a reason that they discontinued production.

I am curious why you "bash" the camaro how you do and then talk about how you have a firebird formula which has so much in common with the camaro including all of the drivetrain. given a 98 would be an LS1 vs a 3-97 LT1 but I don't see a notchback mustang taking an LS1 camaro or your firebird formula without some modifications. at this point of course you can look at the mods you can do to an LS1.. once mods come into the picture everything becomes pretty equal if you throw enough money at it...

That is too funny. You bash the Camaro, but have a Firebird. The Firebird is basically a Pontiac Camaro!! You should get educated about cars before coming on here to waste peoples time with ignorant remarks.

I have a bone to pick with the first commenter. First of all he dosent have a Z28, it's a Base model??? Get with it... second of all his not talking anything about beating a 5.0 mustang. and third the 93 up Camaros look a lot better that a hatchback Mustang. I'd pick a Chevy product over a Ford anyday! and plus the V6 Camaros are fast, but not as vast as a 350 or a 305. or a 351 or 302. But what is Faster a V6 Camaro? or a V6 Mustang?? theres your competition. Get with it...

A Camaro with a V6 is no performance car. The real camaro is the Z28.

I think the camaro basher is a bit offended when the original poster somehow gets full immunity when bashing ford motor company. All his views are purely biased anecdotes.
