"Terrible quality"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Front side Driver Tie Rod End gone out.

Electrical Problems. consistently getting a Traction needs serviced and Security light. But, when put on machine for error codes, none show up.

Hate the Pass lock system. Sometimes get in car and it will not start. Told by Dealer that you cannot disable.

General comments?

I am trading this car soon. Potential to nickel and dime me to death. A 2004 model with only 60,000 miles should not be giving me any problems.

Cheap interior.

It is a nice looking car, but, quality is bad. GM has not improved much on quality over the years. They once built a good quality car, but, still skimping on quality for the almighty dollar. No wonder they are losing customers including me.

My gosh the repair costs at the dealer are outrageous.

The 2002 3.8 Impala LS is one of the best and most reliable cars I've ever owned. I've had the car almost seven years, since brand new, and I have over 100,000 miles on it and the car still runs strong. I've had only minor problems, a few months ago my child broke the rear passenger door exterior handle, by pulling on it hard, while the door was locked. The car gets outstanding gas mileage. It's as good if not better than the much hyped commericals about 30 mpg cars "on the highway". With the highway caption in tiny letters on the bottom of the screen. In town, I average 29 mpg, and 34 to 36 mpg on the highway, when I make long road trips. The Impala is extremely comfortable and was our only family car, until recently buying a second car. I was almost going to buy a new Impala, but I'm not thrilled at all with the new body-style. I think the body-style should have evolved much like the Corvette or Camaro, rather than a drastic remake like was done recently. I've been very happy with the car over the years and wouldn't dream of ever getting rid of it.
