"High power, nice looking car, but costly to maintain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Timing belt broke which caused two burned valves at 68,000 miles.

Alternator went out at 100,000 miles.

Center console door broke.

Ash tray door broke.

Stitching coming un-done in rear leather seats.

Driver's side window switch went bad at 98,000 miles.

Anti-lock brake light kept coming on every time I would accelerate hard - the computer would shut the anti-lock brakes off.

Spark plug cables went bad shortly after having them replaced at 120,000 miles.

General comments?

The car handles excellently. I love the acceleration and speed.

Seats are very comfortable.

I wish there were more than 1 cup holder.

Steering wheel mounted radio controls are a definite plus.

I love the car's styling and looks.

The car passes at any speed without any problems.

Very comfortable seating for people with long legs.

Very expensive to maintain and fix.

Lots of labor involved in repairing the car due to the crowded engine compartment.

This car has its drawbacks, but overall a very nice car.

The 3.4 liter is very unreliable. I have a friend who works in a shop. He said one came in and it was such a pain to work on. He also asked me what I had in my 99'. I told him "the 3.8, why." All he could say was GOOD!

I have a 97' Z34 and have had all the normal stuff go wrong, but overall this car was a good buy for 1500. It seemed a very good buy, but there was a lot of upkeep to deal with, but once it's all fixed it's a great car.

It's also important to find a good mechanic if you buy this car.
