There was a minor problem with a plug in the transmission which was repaired in a very short time.
Brake-life seems to be very short.
I like this car. There could be a little more protection to keep the rain from getting in, but that is a minor point.
This car is quite comfortable to drive and I feel secure with its reliability.
I don't disagree that this is a good, basic 4 -door sedan which normally seems bullet proof, until you deal with the brakes--- Consistently (4 times in the first 15,000 Kms, the brakes needed to be rehoned, pads reground rotors changed etc. then at 30,000 new shoes and pads were needed then 45,000 Kms new rotors and drums... all the way to 100,000 kms where I found a set of aftermarket rotors and drums. Now no problems in 35,000 Kms. The maintenance department consistently attempted to blame the driver (me) for "heavy foot braking". I own a 1987 Buick Regal T-type - it had one brake system change out at 150,000 Kms, now has over 250,000 Kms and is still going strong.
I acquired my 1999 Cirrus with 68,000 miles on it. It had been a corporate car and the original 14" wheels had been replaced with 15" wheels. When I changed out the brakes, front and rear, I was informed by the parts people of the change in wheels. It makes a big difference as the rotors are much bigger for a car with factory 15" wheels. the only other problem was the EGR valve and transducer assembly,$128.00,and not covered by Chrysler. The car had 80,000 miles on it. Other than that It has been a very good vehicle. I will not buy another Chrysler product, as most simple repair parts are only available through Chrysler.
