Summary:

Outstanding. I will miss mine a lot!!!

Faults:

Fuel pump went out around 60,000 miles.

It has the "foghorn affect" from the air conditioner.

The water pump went out at 70,000 miles and is a minimum of ten labor hours.

Must be exact on the oil schedule or sludge may begin to form.

A/C heater fan failed two different summers.

General Comments:

For all the faults, this was an outstanding car!!! I put almost 225,000 on it in five years with very little problem. I wish another had not totaled it; it would still be going!!

Had good pickup, 30+ MPG on highway, and had a good AC.

The cab forward design and being low to the ground did hurt and stiffen up backs when on the road for several hours.

Cab forward design made the rear view mirror create a blind spot when looking toward the right for traffic.

2001 Chrysler Sebring Sedan LXi 2.7 V6 from North America

Summary:

Fantastic domestic family car

Faults:

Changed timing chain and water pump at 160,000km.

Replaced front struts (owner preference).

Replaced rear strut mounts ~ $50.00 CAD.

Replaced front passenger wheel bearing at 180,000km.

Replaced front control arms and tires at 210,000km.

General Comments:

Purchased car in summer of 2006 for 5900 CAD with 137,000km on it after our Grand Prix died due to the intake manifold gaskets leaking (car actually refused to die; it just ran and ran and ran with the temperature needle pegged - the engine made such scary heat related pinging and popping noises that my wife wouldn't drive it anymore).

Impressed with the performance right away - the 2.7 has plenty of power for merging and passing. The ride is comfortable, and the leather seats have made two trips to Florida a breeze.

Gas mileage averages roughly 25 US MPG in mostly city driving (80/20), and on longer highway trips we consistently get over 30 MPG.

Many people have talked about sludging issues on the 2.7 - I replaced my timing chain before it failed, and have always changed the oil every 5000km (3000mi) - never had a problem with the engine.

Only two complaints about this car:

1. The aluminum wheels corrode from the salt on the roads, and some of the wheels have developed a slow leak.

2. The climate control panel seems to have a mind of its own - when air conditioning is selected, it chooses whether or not it wants to work - sometimes we have to select defrost to activate the compressor.

Overall a terrific car, and we are looking at buying a 2010 right now.

2001 Chrysler Sebring Sedan LX 2.7L V6 from North America

Summary:

V6 power with the economy of a 4 cylinder

Faults:

Rear strut, broken tail light from previous owner, headlight switch, water outlet on top of motor, front calipers need to be replaced yet - they rattle.

General Comments:

Previous owner neglected the car, bought it for $600 and have fixed many things.

This is by far the nicest car I have owned! The seats are comfortable and the fake wood on the dash looks good.

It goes like snot on the highway, no problem passing anyone.

It has the infamous 2.7L V6 with 268,000 kms on the original motor, and is still running strong. I am not easy on this car at all, but it just keeps going without many issues. From my experiences with the 2.7L, the key is to keep the oil changed, every 5000 kms.

Headlight switch is going on it again, my dash lights are starting to flicker, will buy a new switch instead of a used one this time.

I've only had this car for 3 months now, but intend to keep it for as long as I possibly can, recently got 39 Canadian MPG combined city/highway driving.

2001 Chrysler Sebring Sedan LX 2.0 from Portugal

Summary:

Head turner for an 8 year old car

Faults:

I have nothing abnormal to point out.

The only thing I can say is that the disk brakes had to be replaced at 72000km.

The rest is normal maintenance.

General Comments:

I found this car to be very comfortable, spacious and a very big trunk.

The car looks like new after 8 years.

I might consider the overall interior plastics medium, but had no problems with them.

It handles well (for an American car), my comparison is based on me having had 4 Ford Escort's and still have the last European model built (1998, Tuscany 1.6L), and a few odder European cars I drove.

But in all is a great car, and me and my wife, we love it.

P.S: I hope Chrysler doesn't go bankrupt.
