After driving 20K miles in 6 months:
New exhaust back box.
New alternator.
2 tyres.
Plenty of oil.
Erratic speedo.
Knackered boot catch bolts.
...er...that's it.
This is my 2nd BX (the other's still going very well after 135K miles).
It's quick, even in automatic guise, and has a real luxury car feel. As expected, ride quality is fantastic (but it makes my friend feel nauseous, so if you're looking at one, take the whole family for a test drive..) Add to this great seats, nicely weighted power steering, good driving position, and electric goodies, and it adds up to a superb distance tourer with a bit of extra grunt when required.
On the minus side, it goes through a litre of oil in about 2 weeks. The famous Citroen brakes are better on this car if you disable the ABS.
If you can find a decent Citroen mechanic (dealers are hopeless), then for the money you are laughing.
I agree the BX is a sound car. I had a BX GTI from new in the early 90s. Included ABS as standard. Can't see how disconnecting ABS has any benefits. If you are lucky, ABS never operates. How does disconnecting it improve brakes?
I agree aswell ace reliable car.
