1995 Citroen XM 3.0 gas from Poland

Summary:

It is one of the worst cars I have driven!!!

Faults:

The oil pump leaks oil only had it 1 day and it had 191,011km.

Gas for the air condonditioning has gone the same day I borrowed it at 191,002km.

This is only a borrowed car so don't know what other things have gone wrong with it.

General Comments:

This car is a very bad car not only because it's a french car, but also because it's a Citroen. French cars are know for breaking down and having bad parts also when the car breaks down the parts are very expensive. Other know French cars like Peugeot and Renault are also very bad. Some of the things it has in it like hydraulic lifting is not needed also the electronic seats is only a insult to human kind as it makes life even more easy. Like I said before the parts to hydraulic lifting cost a lot and also to the electronic seats.

Sounds like the owner not the car that is bad.

Not all french cars are that bad at. So that is a really silly generalization. Problems sounds more like neglect than anything else.

I agree with the first comment. You borrow a about 200000 km car and the air conditioning does not work after 1 km... did it work before?? and the oil pump, was it perfect 2 km before. "All French cars are bad, especially Citroën". Then why not buy a excellent Polish vehicle like the Solidarnosc 000??

1995 Citroen XM Exclusive CT Turbo 2.0 turbo petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

An excellent car which was sadly underrated in its day,

Faults:

After purchasing the car, the next day the battery was flat as a pancake. The garage came out and replaced the battery.

ABS warning light came on once, briefly, I've heard the lights are a mild concern with the XM.

Electrically adjustable mirrors don't work, checked the fuse and it is OK, probably just loose wiring.

The passengers side rear window refuses to open, again, probably loose wiring, will check soon.

Remote key fob for alarm seems to be non functional, handbook says it needs CR2025 3v batteries, previous batteries were different type, maybe needing new batteries in fob.

General Comments:

This car seems to pull away very quickly, the automatic box changes very smoothly, and Ayr, where I live is a bad place for roundabouts and heavy traffic, this car seems to handle them no problem.

The full leather interior is extremely comfortable and a pleasure to sit in, this is the most comfortable car I have ever been in.

The all round view is excellent, the glass gives a good view, which is handy for parking in Ayr where it is at a premium. However, the car is bigger than my previous Cavalier so it will take some getting used to.

Seems to have a very good quality radio/cassette player.

The vast array of buttons can be a little intimidating at first.

The unconventional handbrake also takes a little getting used to.

Insurance wasn't as bad as I thought, only £77 higher than my previous bog standard Cavalier.

The suspension gives a very smooth ride, this is extremely important in Ayr where the potholes and bumps have bits of road attached. :)

I got mine for £990 with a full service history (and a fresh service just under its belt) and a new MOT.

Right, this is my review that has been posted.

Now can any XM owners help me here, I have the following problems.

The passengers side front and back electric windows won't wind down. Anyone have any idea how to sort this?

The electrically adjustable mirror control doesn't work, same as above, as sorting this would be helpful.

There is a Yahoo discussion group on the web, titled "XM-L" dedicated to supporting owners of XMs.

Plus there are a number of general Citroen forums as well.

You will, no doubt, find plenty of help there!
