1982 Datsun 280ZX 2.8 from North America

Summary:

Excellent and beautiful

Faults:

The clutch cylinder after 150K miles and minor little things.

A GREAT CAR I WISH I WOULDN'T HAVE SOLD IT. It always started, had a GREAT pickup, a very nice looking car. You can trust this car...

The only drawback was the handling (old shocks), the rear end slid at high speed, I do not think it would with new shocks.

General Comments:

Overall I believe the 280 was a better car than the 300ZX, the inline 6 was a tougher and better engine.

I certainly agree with the above comments - I've owned two 1982 280's and an 85 Turbo, an 87, and an 88 300. My in-line 6 is by far the best engine -It was reliable and fairly cheap to maintain in comparison to other sports vehicle engines... I wouldn't trade this 82 for anything out there.

I own a 280ZX, non-turbo, 1982 car. I need to buy parts to restore it, but I don't know where. I need a good auto parts for 280ZX only. Can someone suggest one? Thank you. My e-mail address is Largaespadar@mta.net.

I had a 1982 280zx 5speed that was the fastest car I ever rode on .It would go 145mph on a flat road 90mph in third gear a 280zx is truly one of the fastest cars on the road.

I have had my '82 non-turbo 280zx 2+2 for a few years... it has been a joy to drive and not too hard to work on. It handles well and is comparable to the technology of cars built in the late 90's. It needs restoration (interior, paint). I am looking for a source for the original suede '280zx logo' material as well as the leather insert material. Can anybody steer me to a complete parts site???

The person who left the comment about dropping a skyline engine in the 280 is thinking just like me. just the other day, I was thinking about purchasing a skyline turbo engine. in fact, the 280 is my project car and I might just drop that new engine in it and punch out the good 280 hp.

Faults:

Heater core failed at 80,000 miles. Fuel injectors replaced at 130,000 miles.

General Comments:

The car has 140,000 miles on it. Runs great, quite fast for its age. The only general failure was the heater core. All other maintainence has been preventive.
