Not much, but this event happened at the worst possible time. When I was backing up and turning the wheel the car started shaking and making a very loud growling noise. if someone would respond quickly in pointing out this problem. we have had a family crisis and cannot deal with major problems.

Sounds like its the powersteering-pump that is about to be worn out. That puts an extra load on the engine, when trying to turn at maximum wheel-turn. If this is the thing, you will have time to solve your family-crisis first, then fix the car.
Na we couldnt turn the whell without having the whole van shutter and growl very loud.
