1998 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 from North America

Summary:

A car well worth is price

Faults:

The Drivers side window would not roll evenly. The dealer "tried" to fix the problem. Fix only lasted one week. Then next time around went to body shop and their fix has lasted 6 months.

The brakes are not strong enough for a car that weight.

General Comments:

The Intrepid is an awesome car for traveling. the ride is comfortable, handles well.

Tall people are just as comforatble in the back seats are they are in the front. Storage is comparable to a sorts ultility vehicle.

Replaced fan motor 29,000 miles..

General Comments:

Dealer says there is no problem. However there is an obvious pattern. This can get very expensive to maintain.

I really do like the car except for the problems I have listed.

If I cannot get this problem rectified, I probably will have get rid of car and pass the problem on to someone else.

1998 Dodge Intrepid Base 2.7 from North America

Summary:

I would buy this car again in a minute - hard to beat for $22K!

Faults:

Driver's window bracket broke at 80,000 miles; a friend and I welded it.

Had to have a programming modification on the computer (partially flooded the engine when stopped hot) - 10,000 miles.

That's it!

General Comments:

Wonderful car - everything I could've hoped for - the combination of style, comfort, SPACE, and features for the money is hard to beat.

The most comfortable "highway cruiser" I've ever owned for long trips - also, the trunk is HUGE!

Handling/brakes are fabulous for such a large car. Brakes are good, but not great (considering it has 4-wheel disks and ABS).

Extremely comfortable seats/ride, and the best interior room in its class.

HORRIBLE rear vision for parking (blame the styling)!

I know its' childish, but I LOVE the sexy styling.

1998 Dodge Intrepid Base Sedan 2.7 from North America

Summary:

One stunning piece of machinery

Faults:

Weatherstrip around the rear left door is constantly out of place.

Misaligned rear right door won't shut like the others.

Rear visibility takes some time getting used to.

Lots of road noise on the highway.

Soft paint chips easily from everyday driving.

General Comments:

My Dodge is worth $6,600 price tag that I paid.

It is reliable, roomy, great on gas at 24mpg in mixed driving.

16 inch stock steel rims really make a difference in looks compared to 15's.

Handles curves and pot-holes great.

Stereo sound is adequate, but can be better.

I also find it stunning to look at every single day.

Beautiful yet functional interior.

The trunk is big enough to please a mob boss.

Comfortable seating even in the rear.

1998 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2 V6 from North America

Summary:

A great family sedan and sports car, in one package

Faults:

The rubber seal (might be called weather striping?) along all the doors is falling off. You have to push it back in place now and then. It looks terrible and it's noisy when on the highway.

Other than that the car has had no problems.

General Comments:

The car looks great and drives great.

Plenty of room in the cabin and trunk.

The engine is smooth and powerful.

Though the car seems a bit hesitant when applying the gas at high speed with four passengers.

Overall, the car performs and handles great.

Chrysler has released a revised molding for the 1998 intrepid to fix this problem. I had this problem and the dealer installed the new moldings free of charge and I have not had the problem since!
