1998 Dodge Neon Sport Highline 1.8 from North America
Constant source of agony
The timing chain went out at about 40k miles. The dealer fixed this under warranty.
The head gasket started leaking at 69k miles and the head was cracked in several places. The total cost to fix this was $1200.
Every time it rains, the interior floods with water. I am guessing this is coming in from the trunk area.
The transmission is starting to go out (albiet with 128k miles on the car).
The sunroof stopped working completely.
I will never, ever buy a Dodge/Chrysler product again.
Although I have coaxed over 100k miles out of the car in a little over 4 years, it has been the constant source of agony and frustration.
My last car was an 88 Chevy Corsica with over 200K miles on it and I never had any problems with it.
I would recommend that if you see any Neon on a used car lot, you avoid it like the plague.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have the same problem with my Neon leaking, every-time it is slightly wet outside my back driver's side floor board gets flooded with at least 2 inches of water. I have had it checked several times, and not even the dealer was able to find where the leak comes from.
