Just got my SS/T. I love its red with silver stripes. It needs minor body work, surface rust, it will be taken care of, it has 127,000, runs great but needs a little more power for my liking. Looks great and I'm very happy with it. I think my wife feels like she's a little on the back burner, but she likes it as much as I do; nice truck.
I liked my 98 SS/T truck so much, I had to go and find another one. Now I have a black one and a red one.
I have a chance to but a 98 Dodge Ram SST with under 2,000 miles? What price range would be appropriate? New in box almost.
My best friend has a 1998 ss/t emerald green. The factory stripes have been removed because of miner body damage and has been repainted. He has asked me to try to rebuild his stock engine with major performance upgrades. I told him it would be better to just remove the old engine and replace it with a new crate engine, or we can ask my older brother to let loose of one of his 426 hemi's he has on the shelf at his machine shop.
My main concern with any performance engine swap is can the truck handle more than the 245 stock horsepower that it came with? Will the tranny hold up, the brakes, the rear diff? Also, will it be cost effective to do any performance upgrade at all on the old truck. If any one has any suggestions, let us know.
