2001 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0 V6 200 HP from North America

Summary:

This car is a blast to drive and own!

Faults:

Recall notice to replace the automatic transaxle hose.

Moisture gets into the door jams and takes some time to evaporate.

Keyless remote is sometimes a little slow to respond (Dodge took care of that problem).

General Comments:

This car is without question one of the best value for the price.

Excellent performance and a lot of creature comforts.

2001 Dodge Stratus RT 3.0 SOHC V6 from North America

Summary:

A good car for a good price

Faults:

Nothing really has gone wrong with the car.

Second gear grinds when you try to shift from first to second at high engine RPM.

General Comments:

The car is very torquey, by that I mean it throws you back in the seat between every gear from 1 to 5.

I put a cold air intake on mine now, it acts like it's on sterroids! However the handling leaves a little to be desired, and the ABS is not the best in the world either.

A cold air intake does not make your car act like it is on steroids. That is what the Fast and Furious crowd believes. You own a superior piece of American equipment, a Stratus. It is nice, but not really fast by sport sedan standards today. My GTP, bone stock, sets you back in your seat, and it acts like it's on steroids, because it is: a roots type supercharger. Rock on, Stratus R/T. Just hope you don't meet me at the next light.

2001 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great value for the money

Faults:

The door panels are made of soft plastic and scratch very easily.

General Comments:

Very poor placement for the cup-holder.

Difficult to see out the rear windows.

First gear is pretty short and gets to the redline quickly, second gear really gets up and goes. 80 MPH on the highway is very smooth and seems like 55.

2001 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0L V6 from North America

Looks, performance, all the extras at a great price

Faults:

No problems, just a recall on the transaxle coolant hose.

General Comments:

Love the car, rides great, excellent handling and suspension (race inspired).

Appearance is mean and powerful.

Leather interior is very comfortable, nice 4 disc in dash CD player with a 7 speaker Infinity system.

Just a fun car overall.

2001 Dodge Stratus SE 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

Finally, a satisfying coupe from Michigan for under $22,000!

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

I stopped at the dealer to look at this car, and wound up buying one in two days. I was, and still am, very impressed by the fit, finish, quality, design, appearance, layout, and just about everything about the new Stratus coupe.

I just put 1500 miles on the car during a one-week vacation. In mixed highway/country/city driving, I averaged just over 30 miles per gallon. The car handles well in all conditions and is a joy to drive. It's also one of the quietest automobiles I've ever been in.

I've only noticed two drawbacks so far: (1) at 6' I usually have little trouble seeing out of a car, but the high back deck on the Stratus creates a blind spot that translates to almost 5 feet high at the rear; and, (2) the car has a rather large turning radius due to wheel placement and size.

I bought a new 2001 Dodge Straus last year & have had to take back to the dealer three times for headlight switch problems. The switch is located in the on/off arm. The effects are flickering & dimming of the interior dash & radio lights when the headlights or turned on. The problem is still there...otherwise, the Stratus is fine.
