2007 Fiat 500 New Lounge Multijet diesel from Italy

Summary:

New 500 truly excellent!!!

Faults:

Nothing apart from the battery being flat on the first day as the car had been displayed for a month. A jump start got it going immediately.

General Comments:

A truly excellent car. There are only a very few small things we can fault. The good things: it drives well. Good handling and performance. Fuel economy is very good - around 4.8litres/100km.

Fiat have really worked hard and come up with something truly brilliant. We had a new Mini Cooper and just couldnt get on with it. This is a remake of a Fiat car by ITALIANS!! It oozes style (people stop and look - or ask questions - even here in Italy they're still quite rare) and is very practical.

I have a light blue ('light hearted blue' in Italian) Lounge. It's incredibly well equipped with MP3 player that accepts a memory stick, trip computer, e/windows and mirrors, AC, glass roof, very comfortable seats, along with lots of other items that are not obvious straight away such as the dash lights automatically come on in low light, auto indicators, remote boot opening, etc.

If this fits in your budget and you're looking for a bit of style you can't buy better - unless you go for dull boring Toyotas and Fords.. Buy one!! You wont regret it!!!!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Is there an option of Cruise Control on the Fiat 500's option list?

Why would you want cruise control in a car as microscopic as this? It's like having it on your bicycle. It's not really a car that inspires you to drive across continents or to spend much time on the motorway in.

***UPDATE***

The car has now done 10,000 km - no problems!! OK, one small thing - the chrome end on the exhaust pipe has fallen off. It may have been my fault as I reversed it into a lamppost. It was a testimony to the car's build - I hit it hard on the rear bumper but no damage.

The car is excellent on motorways and I would like cruise control - just because it's small doesn't mean that it wouldn't be useful (I think you can specify it).

It is a brilliant little car we just can't fault and believe me I'm really hard to please. I'm still arguing with Toyota about my hopeless Rav4.

It does a regular 5L/100km on fuel - less if we drive carefully. Sits comfortably at 130kmh on the motorway. Good brakes, steering, suspension, gearbox, looks beautiful when clean. Fiat have done a really good job - a company most of us laughed at. I won't buy Japanese again - boring boring boring.

Regarding cruise control, my 2012 Fiat Pop came with cruise control. I have used in on several occasions so far, although I've just had the car for a few weeks, but it works great. Even though it's a "micro" car, you still get on the interstate once in a while, so cruise comes in handy... especially when it's standard equipment on the most basic model 500.

Just had to add that my 2012 Pop also came with cruise. I have used it several times, and it works fantastic, as well as everything else on the car. Fun factor driving this car is 11 on a 1-10 scale. I have the 5 speed... the only way to go.
