Excellent review.

This car wasn't common in New Zealand and Australia, but it wasn't very popular in Europe either, which makes it even more exclusive in my opinion. It has typical Italian characteristics: the interior materials aren't great, but it's fast and accelerates very well.

I've always liked it, and the 1994 model you have is the facelifted version, which I find more attractive than the first generation (which I saw as a bigger and better-equipped Regata).

I must congratulate you on still having it today. Anyone wanting one these days should buy it in Italy or another European country.

Interesting review.

This Croma, if it's from 1994, is the facelifted version, which, if I'm not mistaken, ran from 1991 to 1996, when production of the car finally ceased.

As you rightly say, this car with the 2-liter turbo engine was quite fast. I believe there was even a version with an Alfa Romeo V6 2.5 engine; it was very rare in Europe, and I don't think it ever made it to Australia or New Zealand.

The car itself was one of the most underrated, because in terms of performance, it had nothing to envy in its competitors. The only downside was the interior quality, which wasn't up to par with the type of car it was.

This is the OP writing. The car is approaching 100,000 kilometers (not much for a car from the '90s) and so far everything is still working perfectly.

Once it reaches 100,000 km, I'm going to get it serviced since it's been a long time since I last had one. I want them to thoroughly check the suspension and the air conditioning, which haven't been touched yet.

My idea is to add an extra spoiler to the trunk, but obviously that's just a personal quirk, nothing important, just to make the already attractive car look a bit better.

It's nice to hear that someone is taking care of these cars. I fondly remember these cars from back in the days, these were real underdogs but unfortunately most of these rusted to pieces many years ago. Haven't seen one in years. A neighbour had one for a long time, until quite recently. Was his daily driver and did well past 250K, but in the end this car more or less fell to pieces due to rust. Mechanically it was sound until the end.

It's wonderful to see a review of this great car.

I owned one in the 90s, which I sold a little over 10 years ago. It had a 2.5 turbodiesel engine made by Sofim. A beast! It was like having a small truck engine in a car, yet it was surprisingly fast, one of the fastest diesels of its time.

The only problems I had were minor bodywork imperfections (rust) and the steering wheel peeling over time.

Mechanically, a solid, reliable car with very low maintenance. One of the best things Fiat made in the 80s and 90s (which weren't exactly good years for the brand).

The Italians generally built good engines, that was never the problem. Some models had pretty poor rust proofing and electrics and electronics could be very poor. Had a Ritmo with the 2.0 TC that I abused on a daily basis, no problems with the engine whatsoever. More recently I've had various Fiat vans, all diesels, never any problems with the engines so long you keep up with oil changes (always use quality oils) and diesel filter changes.
