2005 Ford F150 Lariat 5.4 V8 from North America

Summary:

Very good truck, will buy it again

Faults:

Stereo sometimes is not reading CD's, sometimes changing from 4x4 to 2x4 takes longer time.

Other than recall services, I had to change only one of the front seal boots.

General Comments:

I'm very happy with this truck. It's been always reliable for me. Is good on gas compared to other trucks of this class. It's strong, fast and has a luxury feel when driving. My next car will be again a new F-150.

2005 Ford F150 LX 4.6 V8 from North America

Summary:

Nice truck, but let's see if Ford backs it

Faults:

I bought this truck around June or July. Ford checked it out and told me the vibration was mostly from the tires. Well I bought new tires and most of the vibration went away. Still had slight vibration, but I figured it is a truck, they always ride a little rough.

Well about a month ago, I had a whine develop and the vibration got a lot worse. I took it to my mechanic. He checked the driveshaft, tires, wheels, transmission mount, engine balance and everything he could think of. He told me to have my tires high speed balanced. If that did not work, it was probably in the differential or transfer case. Turns out Ford has 42 or so TSBs on this model. I also had a problem with the truck not going out of gear. So now I have the transmission override jammed so I can get out of gear.

General Comments:

When it is not vibrating bad, it rides OK for a truck.

The cabin has been well kept, and the seats are comfortable.

Gas mileage is only around 14; but it is a 4wd and extended cab.

2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4 from North America

Summary:

I hope the new F-150s are better than this one.

Faults:

Uses two quarts of oil between changes.

Blows smoke on start up even though this was supposedly repaired (new oil seals) by the dealer under warranty.

Passenger front door does not close correctly, but dealer refused to acknowledge.

The truck is uncomfortable to me.

General Comments:

The truck runs and tows strong.

2005 Ford F150 STX 4.6 from North America

Summary:

Excellent truck that definitely lives up to the motto, Built Ford Tough!

Faults:

Although I've only had this particular F150 for a year, I have had absolutely no problems with it.

This truck had about 33,300 miles on it the day I bought it, and due to a 60 mile per day roundtripper to work, I have put about 17,000 additional miles on it to date.

My only expenses so far have strictly been in the "NORMAL" upkeep in maintaining it.

General Comments:

Not surprisingly, having owned several Fords in the past, I am extremely pleased with this one as well. It's spacious, handles great considering that it's a pick-up, great power and towing, huge cargo space for hauling, body is strong and tight, and I get all this in a great looking truck. Best of all, I got it all at a great price too!

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm getting excellent gas mileage from this truck, especially considering that it's V8. Although I haven't gauged it in several months, I got about 21 miles per gallon on my first four fill-ups using BP gasoline.

2005 Ford F150 XLT Extended Cab 5.4 V8 from North America

Summary:

This truck is a top quality ride

Faults:

The seats are very easily stained, it seems like the least little thing will leave a stain mark.

General Comments:

This is the best truck on the road. It has the ride of a Lincoln Town car.

The cabin is very quiet.

2005 Ford F150 Supercrew XLT 5.4L from North America

Summary:

Great truck!

Faults:

This truck has been a very good and reliable auto. Have owned it for 3.5 years, and no problems to date.

General Comments:

Plenty of power, runs smooth, quiet, getting better mileage than EPA estimate on sticker. Cannot say enough good about this truck.

2005 Ford F150 Supercrew 5.4 from North America

Summary:

Disappointment

Faults:

Intermittent rough idle from new. No fix from dealer.

Stereo failure at 1 year old. No dealer help.

Limited slip differential failure at 45,000Km, repaired under warranty.

Rear parking brake seized up at 48,000Km.

General Comments:

This truck has been a disappointment.

It has a lack of power as well as a lack of fuel mileage.

The off road ability is poor due to no limited slip differential. The one in it has never worked. According to the dealer, Ford loosened them up because of customer complaints about noise.

Seat material stains easily.

Accessory drive on the engine is noisy.

The box sides/tailgate are too high for a normal height person to reach over.

It is a pretty truck, but if you need a truck to do some work, look for something else.

I feel your pain man, I really do. I have a '08 F150 (V6) and it too has a rough idle to it, comes and goes. Ford says they lean out the emissions at idle, I don't buy it. Mine seems underpowered, even with the manual trans it feels like a 4 banger. Beautiful truck, but don't try to do work with it, it will not have the power for the job.
