"Great work truck"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The power steering went out at about 100,000

The stater got replaced at 127,000 because of old age.

The motor went out (broke valve) at at 258,000 miles, put in a new long block and its been great ever since.

Replaced the clutch when I put the new motor in, but the clutch still had quite a few miles left on it.

Driver side door, lady t-boned me when she ran a redlight, totaled her Toyota Tercel and all I got was a dented door that still worked.

I had to put a new tailgate on, because a I didn't latch on my gooseneck trailer, and it came off thus ruining my tailgate.

General comments?

I got this truck from my grandfather a couple years ago because after 258,000 miles of long hard abuse, the intake valve on the #1 hole broke, thus he gave it to me because he didn't want to mess with it. I put a new long block in it, and it runs great.

I love the granny low 4-speed and 4.10 axle, because I have never owned a better pulling rig than this truck.

Which brings me to the bad thing about this truck, it only gets 11 miles to the gallon, which is horrible, but it gets better mileage than an old 460 Ford that I once had.

The on-road handling isn't anything to brag about, because it handles about like a tank, but I personally like that feeling, and come on it's a work truck.

I have an 1987 F-150 XLT Lariat cylinder 5.L 2WD that put 848,417 miles on the original engine. Of course the old work horse gave up on me, but in all I just have to replace a few external parts of the engine, put in a few gaskets, replace anything else that's necessary, and me my old work trucks ready to go for another 800,000 miles. Now that's a reliable truck.
