1987 Ford F150 Custom review from North America
"One very good truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Some coolant leaks.
Replaced the alternator before it went bad.
It had a tranny leak, but easy to fix.
Power steering leaked (my fault).
Rust.
Steering was loose, but tracked very nice.
Changed the tranny fluid/filter, and soon after, when I would decelerate by releasing the gas pedal, it would pulse in and out of 2nd and 3rd gear, down around 35-45mph. It cleared up in a couple months.
General comments?
One good truck that never left me stranded or gave me any trouble that wasn’t easy to fix.
The gas mileage wasn’t that good when I first bought it, but I modified it and practically doubled the gas mileage.
I was driving in some really nasty weather and the right tire just caught the slush and it slowly started to pull me in. I released the gas and every so gently tried to correct, but lost control anyway and ended up hitting a tree. It was one tough truck, it was still running. It saved my life, I would have kept it, but I have too many projects as is. It was my first truck and thankfully It wasn’t my last.
I miss my truck!
