Just an updated to my previous post about the 2010 Raptor. It was necessary to rebuild the transmission. And now, the heating cooling actuators have both (passenger- and driver-side) failed at different times. The truck is in the shop now for about a 7-hour job for a $65 dollar part. It has to be replaced for two reasons - so I have the ability to defrost and heat on the driver's side, and so I can sell the truck. I cannot, in good conscience sell a vehicle to someone that needs this type of repair during the winter. The mechanics I have spoken to about this issue all make the claim Ford's design is very poor.

Additionally a wheel/brake sensor needs to be replaced to eliminate a fault message that appears. In Ford's "infinite wisdom" they chose to use a different sensor on the Raptor than those on other Ford trucks, and of course the sensor is only available through Ford. I am so done with Ford. I know not everyone has these types of problems with Ford, and some may experience the same types of problems with other manufacturers; however, I am so completely done with Ford.

Well, if I didn't need a truck I would not have one. Unfortunately I need a truck, though I can get by with a smaller truck. I'll look for a used Toyota or Nissan.

Try the Chevy Colorado. Toyota quality is on a downward spiral and Nissan isn't too far behind ever since they merged with Renault.

I’m the guy with 2 full sizes. My nod overall goes to the Silverado. And I had 2 smaller; a Ford Splash (literally a cute toy) and an S-10 (!) with the 2 opposing seats in the back. It was OK, long bed and drove like a car. But useless to carry or tow. Maybe if you could find a low mile, used, newer Silverado. And not use it much. All of them are trucks, so not as nice as a car to drive. They are better as second type vehicles to have. But there’s often times they are great to have at a moment's notice. I only drive mine every 2-3 weeks in the winter. The other full size is more a collector piece. I do love the look of a Raptor though. Sharp. Gas is the main expense. But you know what you're buying so why complain.
