1990 Ford Falcon S Pack 3.9 MPI from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

P plater's dream!

Faults:

- Of course the head gasket blew at 14,700 Km.

- Air Con needs re-gassing.

Other than that, my 'S Pack' is perfect in every aspect.

General Comments:

Got my 'S Pack' for $2500, no joke! And it is perfect. Motor, body and every thing in-between is just perfect.

Have spent nothing on it till the head gasket blew.

The 'S Pack' goes like a rocket. Cracks 180 Km/h in 4th gear. And still got 5th gear to go. Not bad hey?

The 'S Pack' rides well except in wet weather where the back tends to slide. Care is needed in the wet.

The 'S Pack' uses a lot more fuel in the city than on the highway, but that's what you get for a car with this much performance.

I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I treat it right and it treats me right.

A true Aussie car that's going to out last the others.

General Comments:

All of the above problems have been fixed and I will be waiting to see what happens next.

When I took the car in for a service, the mechanic told me that you only buy a Ford once and I am going to stick by this rule when I get rid of this huge fault by Ford.

Remember when you pull up at the lights and there is a car that makes a noise that shouldn't be there, 9 times out of 10, it's a Ford.

When you see a tow truck and there is a car on the back, 9 times out of 10, it's a Ford.

I feel that this comment is unfair to all those people who do own well running fords.

If you are not able to keep your car in good condition don't blame the car, blame yourself and if you don't like the car sell it right now and go and buy a Vovlo or something.

1990 Ford Falcon XF 4.1 Unleaded from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A high power yet cheap monster

Faults:

I've had oil leak problems with it, but these are only minor.

The previous owner said the head had cracked twice before.

Carburettor replaced at 185000 kilometres.

Very few other problems with car, although a 4 speed Automatic transmission would be better.

Bench seats are annoying.

General Comments:

Great, reliable car.

Has problems with stalling at low revs, but only occasionally.

Powerful if you give it some.

Legroom is not great for someone of my height (six foot four).

Handles well being rear-wheel drive.

Fuel consumption is very low for a six-cylinder.

Lovable car, will be sad to see it go.

1990 Ford Falcon EA GL 3.9L from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great car for their price!

Faults:

It has had a timing chain rattle since I have owned it, Which would have been repaired if it wasn't for a dodgy mechanic.

General Comments:

Extremely comfortable and economical for its size. Very smooth engine and good power delivery. Cooling system must be well maintained to avoid a blown head gasket.
