2012 Ford Fusion S 2.5 petrol from Tunisia

Summary:

Good value, comfortable, and reliable. Buy one if you can

Faults:

The automatic transmission sometimes caused problems, such as delayed gear changes and erratic driving behavior.

Starting problems or misfires (codes P0300, P0316) associated with faulty ignition coils.

Leaks or problems with valves, wear in scissor bushings.

The steering is very good, but the steering wheel sometimes becomes too stiff, especially at high speeds, often caused by faults in the steering module.

General Comments:

The car is beautiful both inside and out; in my opinion, it closely resembles a premium brand car, thanks to its perfect design and very high-quality components.

Aside from the stiff steering wheel, the steering is perfect and it's an extremely safe car. Highly recommended for highway driving and long trips; you'll hardly notice them. After several kilometers, it feels like you've only driven around town thanks to its excellent ride comfort and incredibly comfortable, adjustable seats.

Yes, perhaps for America or Europe this is normal, but in this place a car like this with such features is valued twice as much.

Very easy to handle, the steering and brakes make the job rewarding.

The engine is tough and reliable, with no overheating issues, and plenty of power.

For me, the only drawback is the automatic transmission; I would have preferred a manual. While fuel consumption isn't too high, the automatic transmission makes it less economical, and the gear changes are a bit slower. Otherwise, it's excellent, very fast and agile.

As for the accessories, it's clear this is a well-made, high-quality car; it hasn't aged a day. There are no annoying noises or anything like that.

For anyone who doesn't own a Fusion and wants to buy one, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid 2.5 I4 from North America

Summary:

Fantastic—highly recommended

Faults:

Wheel bearings—front.

General Comments:

Bought this about a year and a half ago. It was 5 years old at the time.

It’s smooth, quiet, good handling and has a comfortable solid feel. It feels planted on the road.

In the city and highway it has great acceleration. A bit of a lag off the line, but only momentarily. Has a similar feel in power to V6 Camrys I drove for years.

Reliability is supreme. Did a couple of front wheel bearings, that’s just wear and tear. I have had 50 cars and this is just a great vehicle.

The only thing I don’t like is the cloth seat material.

That said, the cabin is well put together. No squeaks or rattles.

1000-1100 km per tank in the city. Averages about 47 MPG. Now in the winter in Winnipeg cold it will drop to as low as 27 MPG average. But still, this is about one of the cheapest to maintain and operate.

New York has these for cabs and cop cars, and I read they are getting upwards of 300,000 miles on them. I highly recommend!

2012 Ford Fusion SEL 3.0L Flex Fuel from North America

Summary:

For the money I would buy something else

Faults:

Nothing broken, only maintenance items.

General Comments:

It has been a good car overall. We purchased it when our second vehicle, a 2003 Dodge Sprinter, was having transmission issues, so it was not a planned purchase.

We have added almost 20K miles in one year, and the car has done well. Most of the miles are road trips within Alaska, and the ride is a definite improvement over our other vehicles.

The brakes are sub par as they need replacing and the rotors are already warped. Due partially to a spirited driving style, but the brake are undersized compared to other full size sedans I have had in the past.

The transmission is a little "funny", in that its shifts are a little "bouncy" at times, almost like there is a loose mount. This is normal for this car, according to the dealership and other owners.

During the winter the fuel mileage on the car goes to pot. During one of our road trips in the winter the car averaged 19, normally in the 27-29 range, with my wife driving at 65-70 mph. Not sure what happened on that trip, but it has yet to fall that low again. Was not particularly icy either.

Overall a good car, but if given the chance, we would buy another Subaru instead.
