I bought a 05 reg ford KA and have experienced total loss of power 3 times while driving on the motorway doing up to 70mph and on one occasion running late a bit more than 70mph and was in the fast lane I truly thought I was going to die. No problem could be found with my car when I took it to the ford garge twice and was told it may have been dirt in my petrol. I have now bought a streetka winter and have had no problems so far (touch wood) I'm thinking this may not be a problem with the streetka, but the actual FORD KA RANGE???

I have a strettka 2006 experienced slight loss in power twice, but accelerated and was OK I bought a hardtop roof as mine was a soft top streetka ice and confused where the wiring harness connects which I bought from a Ford dealer and they have never fitted anything like this before Also hardtop brackets look a pain to install as soft top may need to be removed first. So wonder if anyone has wiring diagram for streetka so I can locate the plug to fit accessory cable for hardtop too.

Bought a 03 Streetka last March (06).

OK until now, but when I set the alarm, within 6 seconds the alarm goes off and I have to open up the alarm again. Keeps doing this all the time, so I have to lock with the key.

Anybody got any ideas?

Mine's been appalling (03 reg). In 2 yrs of ownership:

Cam sensor

Crank sensor

O2 sensor

Fuel pump (££££'s)

Lower arm bushes

Anti roll bar bushes

Alarm failure

Heater valve failure

Squealing clutch release bearing

Misfire when cold that can't be fixed

Intermittent engine management light which can't be fixed.

Broken boot release

Paint flaking from a poorly fitted hood cover.

Wind noise from windows.

The car has not yet done 50,000 miles and came from a Ford main dealer with all the Ford checks. It's been serviced exactly to the schedule too.

How is it possible to still build cars this badly?

I've had my 53 reg Streetka for 3 years and in that time the only problems I've had have been self inflicted. Apart from the fact that the engine management light has been on for the last 6 months. the Ford Dealership can't find whats wrong, (it drives fine), and can't switch it off.

My only complaint is that I had to replace the rear window (I split it accidentally on a cold morning). It appeared to be an easy enough job as it zips in and out. It took the Ford Dealership 4 hours (supposedly) to replace, and the result was shocking. Instead of the taut plastic window I was expecting, the plastic was rippled and looks shoddy. The window now leaks and the manager of the body-shop shrugged it off 'as they best they could do'. Which I think is disgraceful, this is a main Ford Dealership, not a back street garage. I expected more from them and a better standard of work.

I have a streetka that is not even 2yrs old yet and under warranty. I cannot undo the boot remotely. They have told me at the dealership it's a design fault and that I have to choose between being able to remotely unlock the boot or being able to release the hard top. Also I've experienced loss of power at 70 miles per hour many times on the motorway and been placed in danger. It's a gorgeous looking car but I'm selling it. I either have a normal car that isn;t a convertible with a working boot or a convertible with no boot. Totally out of order.

Does anyone know how to fix the alarms on these Street Kas? Every time we lock it, about 30 seconds later it goes off? Only had the car 1 week, bought it for the girlfriend and with no warranty. I would disconnect it if I knew how!

I bought my StreetKa in 2003, it's only just done under 21,000 miles. I just took it into the garage because the engine light came on. First they said that it was dirt in the petrol then I was told that it was the Lambda Sensor (O2), the garage said that they would need to be replaced as a pair and would cost over £100 each! I've now booked into the Ford garage because they said that I probably won't need both replacing. Apparently, when these sensors are not working it can lead to the sudden loss of power that other people have mentioned as well as greater use of fuel. I'm hoping that I only need one replacing because I've had to pay for a service, MOT and my insurance this month as well.

I bought my 04 StreetKA 4 weeks ago. It has been fine until today when suddenly the alarm has started going off when I lock the car. I have read all the comments here and it appears to be a common problem with the StreeKA's. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix it? Is there a sensitivity wheel or anything which could lower the sensitivity of the alarm etc?

I have owned a 55 plate from new initially the car was great, however in the past year I have experienced various faults:

The air conditioning is like an oven; when I reported this fault to the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong as when the engine is running stationary it is fine.

The alarm - as mentioned in various other articles above this intermittently goes on before I even reach my front door.

The alternator - 5 weeks out of warranty and under 25,000 miles it now needs replacing. I went to my dealership yesterday (as my ignition light wouldn't go out); they said that the car would be fine to drive and to return the car this morning so they can look at it. Unfortunately my car gave up the ghost last night on a county lane. Being a young female driver alone, you can imagine I was less than impressed and have now been told that I need to pay over £300 for surely a manufacturing fault. I have seen various other people with similar complications and I'm happy to make Ford fully aware of this...

Hi,

My girlfriend's Streetka has the alarm problem.

I've found it happens usually when the roof has been down and is put back up before the alarm is turned on.

To solve this I've found that when the roof is put back up, turn the engine on for a few seconds, turn off then put alarm on.

I've had no problems this way.

Has any one got a wiring diagram for the hardtop heated screen?

Hi, I have had my 03 StreetKa for two and a half years. I have read all these comments and have had all these problems; the alarm one they fixed at TAW by replacing a switch where the back panel flips up where the roof goes down, that was under warranty.

The misfiring was down to the fact I needed to change my coil packs and leads, which sorted that out, and the loss of power was due to the O2 sensors on the exhaust. I did replace both of mine because they said it would have a much better effect; it has totally sorted it out and I just put it all down to wear and tear.

The car has been a brilliant car, and I will miss it when I sell in January.

I do however need a new roof as some one slashed it open, and I don't have a clue where to go, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I brought my 04 reg StreetKa in January 08. I absolutely loved it!! But because it was so thirsty on the fuel and the tax was so high (£205) for the year, when I decided to buy a house, I thought I would trade my car in for something 'sensible' so in September I went back to the dealer where I brought it from, only to be told it had lost £2000 in price, which I wasn't happy about, so I decided to keep it.

But now when I am driving along, the car keeps losing power! (very scary when I'm alone in the dark down country roads). The car is under warranty so I took it into my dealer, only to be told there is nothing wrong with it!! And still the problem continues.

My daughter's StreetKa has had an alarm fault for a few weeks. This week, she went to start it, and the battery was flat. Inspection revealed that the boot light switch on the boot lock had come adrift, and was the cause of the flat battery (light on all the time in the boot) and the alarm going off all the time too!

I have a 53 plate, which I can't open the boot on the fob now, and the alarm goes off each time I lock it! - driving me crazy!
