1997 GMC Jimmy SLE review from North America
"A good SUV"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission started slipping and turned the check engine light on. It was caused by a factor defect and I had to pay to fix it. Cost $400.
Also hit two deers with it. The first on knocked the bumper in and broke the two PLASTIC fasteners that hold it on. Also bent the then metal arms that help support it. The second on broke the light cluster, blocked the grill, bent the driver's side fender and left pressure marks on the bumper. Also broke the PLASTIC fastener on the bumper. Why can't they hold the bumper on with metal???
General comments?
Not a bad car, a little slow for me even with a new intake and a K&N air filter. But I only get 16.5 mpg average with it.
The 4-wheel drive gets around great on snow, but stopping it is another story. The anti-lock brakes lock at slow speed and can easily make you slide, but you always slide straight and forward.
