2008 GMC Sierra 4.8L from North America

Summary:

I'll drive it until the wheels fall off

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong yet.

General Comments:

I have the crew cab model.

Interior is roomy and very comfortable. I have the model just above the work truck (SLT1 I believe)... no extras. Has everything I need straight from factory... cruise, power locks, CD/MP3 player, and air.

My only complaint is the cheap front armrest/console. There is just no lid over the storage area, so when a third person rides in the middle you have to take the stuff out and store it somewhere else. Also, when it is up there are no cup holders (except for the useless one molded in the door).

It's a little noisy inside with the windows down, but with the cab closed it's quiet as a church mouse.

Seems to be very solidly built, with plenty of power. I use it like a truck (loaded to the hard stops) and it still handles well with plenty of pull. On the highway it's smooth as silk.

My only real complaint is that I didn't wait a few more months until the bottom fell out of the market completely... could have saved another $5000.

2008 GMC Sierra SLT 4X4 5.3 FFV V8 from North America

Summary:

Good But not great truck

Faults:

The truck has had no problems except taken to dealer for a rattle coming from bed area. Fixed and not heard anymore.

General Comments:

The truck is very comfortable, has a great driving position, and has a ton of power.

However the truck does have a somewhat cheap interior quality (dashboard).

What is your definition of a "great truck"?

Good and Great are a matter of opinion. I am completely satisfied with my 2004 GMC Sierra 1500.

A great truck in my mind is one you jump in and do anything, and with nice ride and styling. A lot of options and room for your family. A strong frame to handle bed loads and tow jet skis up to a large boat, and an enclosed trailer with our motorcycles. The worst truck is one where you could have bought a car and tied a trunk lid down; not anywhere near as useful. Can't see paying the extra insurance. If you are going to buy a truck, buy a real one that performs. I can bring 4 bags of mulch in a car. If I ride around empty, buy a comfortable car as well. The Ford and GM full sizes are great today.
