1987 Honda Accord LX 2.0 liter from North America

Summary:

One of the better cars you could have

Faults:

The fuel tank had rusted out and was replaced.

The alternator was replaced at 290000 km

The upper control arm and tire rod ends had to be replaced.

The 13 inch rims had to be up graded to 14 inch rims for better traction.

General Comments:

This car is very quick in 2nd and 3rd gear.

The seats are very comfortable with lots of room around you.

The car could use more horsepower for going up hills.

I like the hide away head lights because it gives you a bit of a sporty look.

1987 Honda Accord LX from North America

Summary:

A long term investment

Faults:

The break boots were ripped to shreds at 120,000 miles.

Some wires in the headlights had to be replaced.

The horn stopped working at 110,000 miles.

The clear coat of paint was peeling before the purchase in 2000. However, a $200 paint job fixed that.

General Comments:

This car is still in show room condition and was obviously made to last.

It still handles like it is brand new.

1987 Honda Accord LX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

A beater to beat all beaters

Faults:

Well, have had the car since it had 87,000 miles on it. Most expensive repair was off the shelf replacement of transmission at a transmission shop about 100,000 miles ago. But it is still working flawlessly.

Replaced the alternator three times because it was a cheap aftermarket (by the way you MUST drop the left front axle to do this). They covered it.

Do notice that the rotors have a tendency to warp, but hasn't been bad in quite some time.

Repaired rust under windshield and rust in trunk.

Has new master cylinder and water pump.

Mysterious stalling problem was solved by replacing BOTH front (engine) and rear (behind left rear tire) fuel filters.

Need to fix cruise control (just went out)

General Comments:

Car has been through a lot in the 12 years we've owned it and is kept as clean as possible (still waxing the white paint).

The engine has never been opened! Still gets 30 mpg every tankful and runs without a complaint. Change the oil every 2500 miles in all my vehicles.

What can I say? It outlasted my Mazda B2000 (260K) and I gave that vehicle similar care. I'm not one to gloat about Honda's believe me (bought a 2001 4x4 Tribute instead of a CR-V) but my only complaint is the drivers seat position and the non-functionality of the headrests over long drives. Seat/ (whole car) is too low and I need to use a chiropractic back support when driving.

1987 Honda Accord DX from North America

Summary:

A work horse, with a racehorse personality

Faults:

The car has been perfect. My grandmother put oil in the radiator, so the engine had to be replaced, but otherwise the car is idiot proof.

I have never, and never will be happier with any car. Hondas are wonderful cars that will last forever if treated with respect.

Even the inside of the car takes abuse and maintains it's new car beauty.

General Comments:

This is a car that likes to go. Don't be fooled by the family car style. This is a minivan cleverly disguised as a sports car and it can whip corners like nothing else.

Come on now, plenty of cars handle far better then a 1987 Honda Accord Dx. Why do you think this vehicle is a minivan?

1987 Honda Accord LX 2.0 2bbl from North America

Summary:

An excellent car!

Faults:

The CV Boots were torn and the axle had to be replaced a while back. The blinkers only work some of the time, I am going to get that fixed. Just minor things.

General Comments:

This is my first car and it is excellent. Really good power steering, frosty ac, although it does tap into it's 98 horsepower. It has a peppy engine and sometimes I find myself speeding not even knowing it. The car is in perfect condition. I love it!
