1998 Honda Accord ex 4 cylinder vtec from North America

Summary:

High luxury sports sedan performance

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car, but there was one problem with the check engine light. It was basically a faulty oxygen sensor that needed changing and the guys at honda eventually figured it out.

General Comments:

Beautiful, excellent car and I am a street tuner and I love it more than my integra. It's got power and there are loads of aftermarket parts available for it. Once again Honda I love you.

I have the same problem in my accord the check engine light is always on and the maint. required light is always on too. It has no effect on performance though. How much was it to fix? And has it ever came on since?

1998 Honda Accord LX from North America

Summary:

Reliable, but no "kick" whatsoever

Faults:

Power windows have to be "reset" after an electrical job. Dealers thrice forgot it and I had to return to have them fixed. It's a quick fix, but annoying.

I had to replace the front brakes at 85,000 miles.

I had to replace the starter at 85,000 miles.

Dealer recommended an induction service at 93,000.

General Comments:

Generally reliable, but no "ummppff"

I feel the engine of my LX is too weak for the huge boat like body it has. It's hard to get a real kick out of this car.

Also, the car is really noisy.

1998 Honda Accord EX 2.8 from North America

Summary:

I won't drive anything else

Faults:

Very little has gone wrong with this car and what few things have gone wrong are very minor. The sunroof would not open a few months after I bought the car, but fortunately I had the extended warranty so the dealer fixed at no cost.

General Comments:

This is the second Accord I have owned and I am very impressed with these cars.

My old car was a 1987 Accord and it never let me down. I would still be driving it today if my husband didn't talk me into trading it in.

I do like this one a little better though because it is a lot roomier and has more power.

1998 Honda Accord EX Coupe 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

The best car I have owned so far

Faults:

Nothing major has gone wrong except 2 minor things which have been fixed.

The transmission had been hesitating in cold weather and also from 1st gear into second would thrust hard.

Rear tires seem to always be low in air pressure.

Brakes make a lot of squeaking.

Power window/lock motor blew out.

General Comments:

A very good engine with lots of power.

200 Horsepower makes the car extreemly fast on take off, be cautious when stepping on the pedal too hard which in which you may end up in the back seat!

The trunk is huge making lots of room for cargo.

The back seat is a little small, but what more would you want in a coupe.

The leather interior is luxurious.

The two exhaust pipes make the back of the car look agressive.

I find myself at the gas station filling up a lot though, but it is a V6.

My transmission is hesitating from first to second and the engine doesn't have any power after 170 km/h. I have a 3.0 V-TECH and I want to know whats the problem? Can someone help me.

1998 Honda Accord EX L 2.1 V from North America

Summary:

A very reliably running luxury car

Faults:

Alternator failed at approximately 70,000 miles. Problem with transmission at 90,000 miles covered under extended warranty, and may have been covered under a recall without the warranty.

My major complaint is the clear coat paint has failed beginning at about 90,000 miles and progressing rapidly. My color is Black Currant. I have not been successful is getting Honda to cover this even though I bought the extended Honda Care to 100,000 miles.

General Comments:

Maintenance at 105,000 miles was very expensive at approx $1800 (including replacing the timing belt). The fully automatic (6 way power) drivers seat does not have much room for adjustment. This quirk makes it very uncomfortable for a tall driver. The front passengers seat had a great deal of forward and back adjustment, which makes for a very roomy back seat. The car handles well and is a joy to drive. The CD player sometimes makes a high pitched whine that only goes away when the radio is shut completely off. Taking the CD out or switching to radio does not help.
