Faults:

The particulate filter is highly sensitive to exclusive city driving; soot accumulation causes a loss of power and triggers warning lights. For this reason, it is necessary to drive the vehicle on the open road from time to time.

The high torque of the 2.2 diesel engine causes premature clutch wear, especially if high gears are overused or the vehicle is heavily loaded.

Brakes wear out over time; although mine were still working, they started making noise after passing the 100,000 km mark (I had bought the car used with 40,000 km), so I had to replace them.

The timing chain tensioner is weak, requiring rigorous maintenance and the use of high-quality oil.

General Comments:

The car's best feature is its great comfort. Although I mostly use it for city driving, it truly shines on the open road. I had the best experience during a long-haul trip from Belgium to Poland, maintaining average speeds of 140 km/h; the car performed wonderfully, and the driving experience was effortless and enjoyable.

The interior feels more like a luxury European car than a typical, understated Japanese vehicle. I love the dashboard details, and the seats are incredibly comfortable. A family of four or five can travel in this Accord in absolute comfort. All the components are top-quality; I’ve never had any issues with the interior or the exterior—this car doesn't know the meaning of the word "rust."

As I mentioned earlier, the driving experience and comfort are the car's strong points: it has a soft suspension that ensures no noise of any kind is felt, excellent steering, and very good brakes—though they did end up wearing down a bit (without failing).

Mechanically, it is also a brilliant car. Although nearly 200,000 kilometers isn't a huge amount, I never had any engine trouble. Honda's 2.2-liter engine is not only fast and fuel-efficient—consuming barely 5 liters per 100 km, which is remarkably low for a car of this type—but also truly quiet; the old diesel-tractor clatter is a thing of the past, and the difference compared to a gasoline engine is negligible or non-existent.

A great car for an average family—expensive to buy, but very economical and with excellent performance.

Faults:

This car is my city car, it seldom goes on the highway and only for day trips. The car has had regular servicing according to the owner's manual, I do my own oil changes since the car has come off warranty. Nothing has broken or been replaced on the car in 5 years.

The car has a well documented problem with 3rd gear popouts on the 6 speed manual transmissions for 8th generation. This has happened twice to me, though every few months a shift gets missed when the gearshift will not go into 3rd on first try.

You cannot ask for better reliability than zero fixes.

General Comments:

The engine is powerful and pulls well from low RPM, listed at 270 HP. Since new, the car has averaged 7.3 l/100km (regular gas) for city driving which I consider outstanding.

TPMS cannot be cancelled, with a second set of winter rims, I live without the traction control since a reset of the sensors has to be done by a dealer for $90 on each changeover. Road noise is high, regardless of tires used.

The Coupe suspension is harsh even without the factory high performance kit.

Navigation maps are out of date from day 1, but I have not replaced.

Stereo is upgraded but average for fidelity.

With the folding rear seats, the trunk is plenty big enough for groceries and suitcases. Rear seats would not be usable for long trips, front seats and center console are leather and show limited wear.
