The day I drove the car home the previous owner had unhooked the oil sensor light. So when I held it in V-tech I did a lot of damage. 2 years later I blew the car up and now I am having MAJOR problems finding a motor.
The seats are uncomfortable for long drives.
The car handled great.
But for long trips we take my other 1991 honda prelude as it is more comfortable.
So is the Vtech problem Honda's or the previous owners in your opinion? I love the Vtech in mine and I have put over 100,000 miles without any trouble on mine... my oil light does work thank you very much...
I had 3 VTec Honda's. 1 Prelude and 2 CRX's. I find them to be amazing cars. Never had the slightest problem even after doing very high mileage.
You have a Vtech Engine? Wow, man first there's Vtech CORDLESS PHONES, then engines. I wonder what that Honda VTEC engine is like...
Do you know what, I broke a couple of ribs with laughter then! Not.
Interesting. The phone guy was right, it's VTEC. And did you have a Japanese 1992 CRX or something, with VTEC?
I've got a 1998, 2.2 litre, prelude automatic. I've had the car for 2 weeks now and there is one thing that's bugging me. the car limits at 120mph. Is it a problem with my car alone or are they fitted with a limiter from standard? any suggestions would be great, thanks.
You shouldn't be going 120 miles per hour in your Prelude or any car for that matter. A speed governor should be a non-issue for you.
Your Vtech sucks because Honda made the only one in the world for you. but our VTEC rocks because Honda made a lot of this and everybody drives it.
A couple of years ago, it was said that not one single VTEC engine produced had had a major fault as yet. I suspect this is still the case. So show the engine some respect, its one of the best the motoring world has ever produced.
Hello
i have a 2.2L semi automatic prelude. it drives really well and it has a powerful engine. the vtec sounds special like no other car. never had any problems so far and I would buy again if they make a new model. hope they do.
I think Honda actually meant that they hadn't heard of a single failure of the vtec system, not the motor as a whole. In fact a friend of mine has a 98 vti with a blown head gasket and ruined transmission, on a car with less than 100k miles.
How is it the Vtec engine's fault that you blew it up? Why wouldn't you never buy a Honda vtec again?
