2006 Hyundai Elantra XD-GLS 2.0 DOHC from Iran

Summary:

In general very good car

Faults:

"Moaning" noise at engine idle speed presumably coming from the steering hydraulic pump. Some dealer say it is nrmal for this car and the other says wait until the car is fully broken in and if the noise does not go away, it might be needed to replace the hydraulic pump.

The car is brand new with only about 400 kms on the clock.

General Comments:

The way engine responses, it seems like you need to shift to lighter gears sooner than expected especially from 1 to 2nd gear.

2006 Hyundai Elantra XD 2.0 DOHC from Iran

Summary:

Good car

Faults:

It's a brand new car.

In my country "Elantra" is named "Avante"

Little rough on the street bumps compared with my previous Accent.

Right now I need expert advice on the type of suitable engine oil.

General Comments:

The type of engine oils recommended by local manufacturer are: (API) CD/SG, SG and SH all of which, according to one of the first class oil producers are "obsolete".

The most suitable types available in the market here are :"SL and SJ".

What is this?

Why local manufacturer recommends oils that are out dated?

2006 Hyundai Elantra gls 2.0 from North America

Summary:

A pleasure to drive

Faults:

Nothing, I love this car!!!

General Comments:

This car is smooth and comfortable, and accelerates quicker than my Chrysler cirrus.

The engine idles quietly, and is quiet at 70+ MPH, which is rare for a small vehicle. The MPG is great and I have averaged 380 miles per tank.

Also, The warranty is second to none and I am seriously considering trading my 2004 dakota QC PU for a Tuscon.

This automaker has turned it's reputation around.

Watch out Toyota and Honda!

Sorry, I do not agree with you. I bought myself a new car this month after considering different brands. I considered the Elantra mainly for its low price and good looks. So I visited a dealer some months back to pick up some brochures and a test drive. I browsed the documentation when I waited for the demo car to come in. What struck me was that this car is many years behind the leading brands in technical design. The test drive was a total disappointment as well, it's all very nineties: Cheap materials, noisy on uneven road surfaces, poor handling especially in sharp bends. It's like the 95 Corolla that a collegue of mine used to have. Compared to the new German built 2007 Ford Focus MkII, its worlds apart even if the Ford is more expensive. The Ford has better safety (5 star NCAP rating and 6 airbags), 15% better gas mileage in average, lower emissions (Euro stage 4), better ride and quality feel, tons of more standard equipment (like ESP). The Ford simply feels like a new car where the Elantra feels like an old car. When you buy a new car you have to shell out a lot of money anyhow, why not buy a car that has modern technology? I think that Hyundai has copied some 10-15 years old blueprints when they designed the Elantra.

Bought an 06 new when the redesigned 07's were available. Car now has 28,200 miles.. Only had one minor warranty issues.. a blown fuse. If you buy this car expecting luxury and high performance.. you will be disappointed. If you buy this car for economical and reliable transportation with comfort.. you will be happy. Make you you get one with traction control and ABS.. it makes a big difference in the snowy weather.

2006 Hyundai Elantra LTD 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

My Elantra is absolutely the most perfect car I have ever owned!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing!

General Comments:

I just LOVE my Elantra! I bought a used Elantra in 2005 - it was a 2001. It was wonderful also. Than the dealer offered me a trade back. Well, I bought a 2006 and I am a very, very happy Elantra owner. I love the color, the leather interior, the way it runs, the way it looks, just EVERYTHING about my car! I will be buying Hyundai's forever now.
