2000 Hyundai Galloper 5 door LWB 2.5 turbo diesel Intercooler from Honduras

Summary:

Not the best in it's class, but very reliable and an excellent value

Faults:

In the two years I've owned this car, I've only had one minor problem: The power door lock of the front passenger door quit working at 2,000 kilometers. It was fixed under warranty at no cost. No other problems have occurred.

General Comments:

It has lots of room, seats 7 comfortably.

The plastic material used in the dashboard is low quality.

The car looks like a 15 year old design with a face lift, which it actually is.

Looks and feels cheaper than a Toyota, which it actually is, too.

Actually I own a '00 petrol Galloper, I'm trying to sell it, but I'm not quite sure I'm gonna get the money I think I deserve for the car... in local money 150,000.. about 5,500 USD.. what do you think?

1999 Hyundai Galloper Base 3.0 V6 from Saudi Arabia

Summary:

Cheap, all OK, got my moneys worth

Faults:

Battery required replacement.

General Comments:

This 4x4 is the 1989-1991 Mitsubish Pajero. The car is solid and reliable. On road is good and off road, once the standard korean tires are replaced with good ones, the performance in the sand is solid.

The truck was cheap, and it is good value for money. Bear in mind it is a copy Pajero, so don't expect Toyota Landcruiser preformance off-road.

2000 Hyundai Galloper 2 LWB V6 3.0L from United Arab Emirates

Summary:

Disappointed with the electronics... otherwise it is a solid performer

Faults:

Small problem with major implications. One of the connectors on the electronic control box was intermittently faulty causing this brand new vehicle to break down spectacularly on 6 occasions in the first 2 months. The warning sign was an irregular clicking noise coming from the control box followed by a loss of power, loud backfiring, violent shuddering and cutting out of the engine.

The workshop was unable to detect the cause of the problem on numerous breakdown visits and eventually found it by chance when a technician tweaked a wire. Although the cause is now known I am not fully confident that the problem will not occur again.

After 15000 kilometres the air conditioner packed up and flooded under the carpet of the front passenger seat.

General Comments:

Very solid, powerful off road vehicle and cruises well on highways. Is spacious and seats 7 reasonably comfortably.

Had a Galloper for 2 1/2 years, a solid car with a few minor faults, have thrashed it on and off road in 100 degree plus desert conditions (Saudi). It has performed as well as some and better than other far more expensive cars. Just about to take delivery of my second one that I have bought in preference to the pseudo 4wd of the Santa Fe.
