1998 Hyundai Galloper review from Greece
"Reliable and solid; pity they don't produce it anymore"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The cooling system, meaning the radiator was full of salts and I had to take out and clean it completely at 35.000 km.
A pipe from the cooling system went wrong with a big hole in it at around 50.000.
Of course I must say that the car has been parked and not moved for some times during its life. The previous owner was a captain, and sometimes the car did not moved for couple of months.
General comments?
Solid like a rock. And very very cheap.
I bought it for the price of a new VW Polo, and it has a lot of space.
It is very strong; I have pulled my boat a long way, which was around 2,000 kg and did not had any problem with 40 degrees celcius on the mountain roads. I've done a lot of off roading and the only car that could go along were the Land Rover Defenders; not even the Discoveries. Once I was able to drive on half meter snow, which was not been passed by any car before.
I also made a lot of travel with my 4 member family, carrying anything we wanted.
On the off road it is the king. On motorways you can drive very comfortable at 140 km per hour, and you can make overtakes with 160 km per hour.
Its only weak point is at the curves because it has soft shock absorbers.
