2003 Hyundai Getz 1.1 1.1 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

They've changed the car, can you change your mind??

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

As there were not many reviews of the "Getz" on here, thought I'd pass on the benefit of my experience with one of these as a hire car for a week in Australia.

Hyundai's reputation is somewhat poor in the UK - seen as cheap and not necessarily cheerful so I was rather sceptical when I found out our hire car for the week was going to be a Hyundai Getz. My preconceptions were completely shattered when we picked it up - what a great little car! It was roomy, comfortable and reasonably nippy - even with the 1.1 engine. Fuel consumption was negligible and the interior although basic was funkily styled and worthy of a more expensive vehicle. It was a doddle to drive and handled pretty well. I think Hyundai have gone for a more "European" feel with this one and for me they have got it spot on. Although some of the trim is not top drawer it felt pretty well screwed together.

If you are in the market for a small car then the 5 year warranty makes this a very attractive proposition provided you're happy to have the Hyundai badge on your drive. It will certainly be near the top of the list when our current 2nd car (Vauxhall Corsa) needs replacing - which given the rate things are falling off it isn't too far away!

The Kalos is rubbish, how can anyone recommend it? It's a Daewoo, hence its cheap, only lasts 12 months, uses ancient engines and sounds gruff. The Getz is a better car, not by a huge amount, but it still is. OK!

I have never drive an Aveo before, but I have been inside one. All in all, I would say that the Getz is better in more aspects. Just to name one, the look makes all the difference!

2003 Hyundai Getz GLS 1.6 16V from Croatia

Summary:

Excellent bargain with great potential

Faults:

Fortunately nothing have gone wrong.

General Comments:

If you have racing car in garage which you use every weekend for racing, then nothing can get you enough adrenaline while driving. If you had the opportunity to drive an Integrale EVO II, then nothing is fast enough at the road between street lights.

Seriously, the Hyundai Getz isn't a racing car or Integrale EVO II, but is very nice small car. I changed the suspension to put it lower and harder in cornering, and put the Getz on 195/50-15 Yokohama's. These changes make the small Hyundai run like a Go Kart.

Room inside is enough for a 2m tall person. Materials are OK, especially when you pay approximately 10,000 EUR for the car.

The sound of engine become excellent after I switched the regular filter with a K/N. This change provides more consumption because I always want to listen pure engine sounds - and all my neighbors.

Few words - small, cheap, quality, fast car for fun, which can be used for family trips. The seats are very comfortable, even at the backs.
