2004 Hyundai Getz GLS 1.3 petrol from Turkey

Summary:

Although is has some downsides, it is easy to love this car

Faults:

Its remote locking control had broken down. It was repaired easily and cheaply in the car service.

Nothing more :)

General Comments:

It is a good looking car.

It never easily runs out of fuel.

It performance is good for a 1.3 petrol engine.

Some road noises come inside the cabin at higher speeds.

Its original suspension is not so smooth; sometimes on bad roads it could feel uncomfortable.

Its steering wheel looks old and cheap.

2004 Hyundai Getz GL 1.1 from Philippines

Summary:

Expect less with this low priced car

Faults:

Have this knocking sound while car on motion with its poor transmission support. It was replaced free before with its warranty during the first 6000+ KM and the same knocking sound again after 5000+ KM.

General Comments:

The handling is good and the driving of this small car.

Except for the knocking sound and and noise vibration by the road which you can really feel inside which gives you less comfort.

Fuel consumption is not economical for this small car.

SAME here... my transmission support was replaced twice... 1st on my 5th. km and again on my 14th. km. The good part is, its still under warranty... vibration and noise inside the car are expected, especially on uneven roads.

2004 Hyundai Getz 1.3 from Indonesia

Summary:

Powerless car

Faults:

Engine is too small and not powerful however fuel consumption is unexpectedly high. This car consumes fuel more than any Japanese cars with 1.5 L engine.

Stability is not good. Engine sound is louder compared to any Japanese cars.

Brake system is terrible.

Those are the reasons why this car sales here significantly drops.

General Comments:

A car that gives you uncomfortable situation as it only produces low power.

You get what you pay for. If you want Japanese quality and economy, then buy a Japanese car.

2004 Hyundai Getz GL 1.5 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Bloody brilliant mate!!!

Faults:

Nohing at all.

General Comments:

Very good small car!!! It has all the features that you will not find in the other small cars with the same price as the Getz. Great looks, had been reliable since I bought it (brand new). Great engine even though performance a bit disappointed, very easy on fuel. I think Hyundai has done a very great job, I would recommend this car to everyone especially for all the snobs out there who doesn't like Hyundais and pay more money for european/japanese small cars. You can't beat the value and you can't go wrong with this car!!!

2004 Hyundai Getz GSi 1.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Small Fuel Guzzler. Worse than Octavia VRs

Faults:

Poor MPG.

General Comments:

Bought this car in April and it was a good deal, with only 10 miles on the clock. This was well equipped with electric windows, CD player, ABS and 5 year warranty.

Performance is OK, but it's no hot hatch. Gets a bit loud on motorways, but can cruise at 70mph well enough.

Built quality is quite good as well for such a cheap car. Rear space is limited though and boot space only good for the shopping. No trips to Ikea in this.

****MPG****

This is the big issue. The MPG it gives for a small car is terrible. Average is 38 MPG when Hyundai state 49.9. They must have got this by free weeling it down a bank with vapour in the tank. It will not give you this on average. They are many reports of poor MPG for the Getz so it must be a general problem or a general exaggeration of the MPG. My Octavia VRs can get better MPG than this!!! If you want good MPG buy a different car.

I agree with you. I purchased a Getz 1.3 CDX in May 2004. I was told it would do 48 to 50 mpg which was slightly better than the previous 3 cars - all doing around the 45mpg mark. This car has never done more than 30mpg and can drop to 28.9 mpg. I am a sensible driver and live in semi-rural area so do not spend any time waiting in traffic jams. It has been checked by the dealer and they say nothing is wrong. Hyundai's reply to my email was very unhelpful and they were unwilling to investigate.
