2014 Hyundai i10 1.0 petrol from Israel

Summary:

Great small car for town

Faults:

Nothing wrong.

General Comments:

Did not expect much from just about the cheapest car you can get here. But actually was pleasantly surprised by the excellent kit and good comfort.

Only complaints are the under-powered engine for uphills, and vague and slightly odd steering. This is less of an issue in-city, but draws some attention on the highway.

Otherwise a solid build and recommended (so far).

"Inspire" trim with 4 power windows, power mirrors, wheel audio control, 6 airbags, anti-skid, DRL, A/C, reverse sensors and remote locking.

2012 Hyundai i10 Active 1.2 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Worry free, low cost motoring

Faults:

Very reliable.

General Comments:

Not sure whether to call this car the go kart or Tardis.

A small, nippy, extremely capable car with a list of standard equipment for a very competitive price. Air conditioning, electric power steering, four electric windows, four airbags, remote central locking, anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution for under £8K on the road. £20 a year road tax and five years warranty, plus five year breakdown cover.

Seats four adults with adequate room, has five doors, turns on a sixpence, and has a great little engine, which will easily achieve 50 MPG with the manual version.

2012 Hyundai i10 Active 1.2 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A superb city car. Highly recommended

Faults:

Minor rattle from underneath the dashboard, but promptly fixed. Everything else has been flawless so far.

General Comments:

This car is very nippy, and the automatic gearbox is very smooth indeed. The engine can sound a bit raucous when pushed hard, but this is to be expected given its small 1.2 litre size and it's smooth enough for everyday driving.

The electric power steering feels slightly numb, but otherwise the car handles well enough with plenty of grip, and the suspension, whilst firm, is not uncomfortable.

The styling looks great, with its large front grille, front fog lamps and colour-coded mirrors and door handles.

The cabin is spacious and well equipped with front/side airbags, electric mirrors and windows, iPod compatible/MP3 CD radio unit and air conditioning. An auxiliary power socket and front/rear cup holders complete the line-up. The seats are comfortable enough and are height-adjustable. The plastics, while hard, don't feel cheap, and the interior feels very well put together.

The dealership has been extremely helpful. No complaints at all. They treat you like a human being, and their customer service is superb.

2010 Hyundai i10 1.1 petrol from Malaysia

Summary:

Best in its class

Faults:

The engine noise level is high when the engine rpm is over 4000 RPM.

This car cannot go at fast speeds, even though it's more stable than the same category VIVA. I tried the max of this car; it's only 170km/h.

No fog light in the standard specification model.

No timing chain...

General Comments:

The most comfortable in this class of vehicle.

Petrol consumption very good, less than RM0.10 per km.

Stylish design for the exterior and interior.

The quality of the door panels is not bad as compared to Perodua.

The handling was over expected, especially on cornering.

2010 Hyundai i10 Standard 1.25 from Malaysia

Summary:

Don't buy and don't buy

Faults:

After 1000 km first service, A/C compressor broke down, engine overheated and stopped in the middle of the road. Sent for repair and had the A/C compressor changed under warranty. Waited 4 days for replacement, and after being repaired, the A/C was not working; was not cold at all.

A lot of headaches for this little car. Regret buying it.

General Comments:

Steering and handling are very loose; have to really concentrate all the time. Will steer to right or left with a tiny movement of my hand.

Problems with i10:

1) Aircon compressor make screeching noise every now and then.

2) Battery failed within first year.

3) Auto lock door when pressed the brake pedal failed.

4) Side window broken by thief.

However:

Problem 1, 2 and 3 resolved under warranty. Problem 4 resolved under insurance. By the way, the manufacturer of the glass of i10 is the same as Mercedes E Class.

Problems with Waja 1.6X:

1) Rattling noise from interior. Never resolved.

2) Power window failed, after warranty period.

3) ABS system failed, after warranty period.

4) Airbag system failed, after warranty period.

All types of cars will have problems. With the i10, at least can be resolved for free.

On the steering "loose", same here, because of the tyres not fully run in yet. This will improve with more mileage.
