2003 Hyundai Matrix CRDI 1.5 CRDI from Romania

Summary:

I love this car

Faults:

Fuel injection broke after about 20.000 KM - injection pump had to be replaced - because of the poor quality of the fuel in Romania, service people says.

General Comments:

The reasons why I still love this care after about 2 years and 38000 KM:

- roomy and comfortable for all the 5 seats. Good driving position even when taking a long trip.

- easy to drive, even for non experienced drivers (I had actually learn driving on this car)

- the reliability can be recognized for a couple of reasons:

- since I did not have previous experience in driving I kind of not used the car in a "gentle" way

- the roads in Romania (and especially in Bucharest) are really good places for endurance testing because of the bad surface.

- it has decent performance, but sometimes I would like see more vivacity. The 17+ seconds from 0 to 100 KM/H is the relevant number in this case.

- the price is good comparing to the alternative, and the maintenance costs are acceptable.

2003 Hyundai Matrix GLX 1.6 petrol from Philippines

Summary:

It is good value per money spent

Faults:

The factory installed battery was dead on the tenth month of owning the vehicle.

The engine vibration and noise is a bit offensive at speeds of 120 kph to 140 kph.

The factory installed tires provides a bumpy and noisy ride.

The chrome in the headlamp fixture started to bubble on the 15th month of use.

The petrol consumption is quite high with an average of 7 km/liter city driving.

CD player broke at 1 year of use.

General Comments:

The car is roomy and it maximizes the utilization of space.

The car is sluggish in low rpm, but once you go to the mid and high range its pretty good.

Suspension is stiff, which is the way I like it.

Driving position is comfortable and gives a better vantage point in terms of vision.

Dealer immediately replaces parts under warranty (battery and CD player)

I totally agree with the problems written in this review, because even I'm facing the same problem till now. I can even add some more problems of this car that it is a bumpy car, it body rust fast, engine rev up while stopping at a traffic light and moves on its own if I take the foot away from the brake pedal (Wow! A true automatic car which runs on its own).

One thing I noted is that for a 1.6 liter engine, the car consumes too much gasoline. On an average, it runs 7 kilometers per liter. Other brands with the same engine displacement can go for approximately 12 kilometers.

I am looking to purchase a car and Hyundai Matrix has been sort of my choice. I know the petrol consumption is pretty high compare to other make, but at 7km/liter is on a high side versus 11km/liter on average. Hhmmmm still considering!

Summary:

An MPV with a big 4X4 specifications

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This car is really superb and I can't believe that I've got it with this price.

It is a real family car, my children love it especially on the highways where they can move freely inside.

The acceleration is good and the fuel consumption is reasonable.

The best point about this car is the interior where you feel comfortable with the roomy cabin and the well designed dashboard.

I really love this car. It's a member of my family.
