I have a Sonata 06 2.4L auto/trans, with 80000 miles on it. Drives and runs great, gets about 27 miles per gal. No noise or suspension issues, going to replace plugs, don't need them, just a preventative mat. I always change oil and filter @ every 5000 miles.. use the best oil & filter.

I've had a squeaking noise for some time. I took it to a dealer who said it was the lower ball joints; had them replaced, still have the noise.

Took it to another dealer who said I needed struts; had them replaced, still squeaks.

After my saying it might be the bushings, they took it for a ride and determined it to the frame bushings, we will see, I will keep you updated.

RE: 2008 Sonata, 2.4 L. 28K miles and all 4 shocks have gone soft. You can start and maintain a body bounce with one hand at all 4 corners. All 4 tires (Michelins) must be replaced soon per tire stores, who also suggest new shocks/struts. Dealer says they will not replace shocks/struts under warranty. A thumping noise which is proportionate with speed is developing, but has not been stopped with 2 recent tire rotations and re-balances and a 4-wheel realignment. Getting concerned about handling and safety. What to do? Is a warranty claim worth while?

2006 Sonata GLS V6 - manufactured July 05, bought in August 05 with 11 miles on it. 65K miles now.

Car rides very rough. Stock 17" rims would bend at the slightest bump. Bought aftermarket rims and new tires, but still cannot get the vibrations out.

Transmission replaced at 50K after a hard thunk and engine lunging under light load.

Engine is vibrating at idle, but of course the useless dealer doesn't feel it, so they just charge me $100 and do nothing to fix it.

Brakes squeal something horrible, although there is plenty of pad left. Dealer suckered me out of $400 for turning the rotors to make it stop squealing for 2 days.

Wish I had never bought it.

OK, my 16 year old has a 2007. This car is the best, and at only 20 thousand bucks, what more could one ask for? She loves it; ya there might be a noise or two, it is a low end car, give it a rest.

I'm having the same issue with my 2006 Sonata. I had the struts replaced, but it's still squeaky when I drive over bumps. I've been searching for advice on Google and it seems this is a very common problem with 06 Sonatas. Nobody quite knows what the problem is. Please tell me you figured out how to fix this annoying squeaky noise!

I am not a mechanic by any means. But I know enough about front suspension that there are other parts around the struts. So you have to do a Internet search on a blow up of your front suspension of your particular car or possible sister cars, and find out what other components are around those struts. And you might go even a little farther and see what other parts in the suspension might have a problem causing your particular squeaks. Also if there are other directly attached components to your struts. Search to see if there is a proper procedure to install them. Too many people want just to replace one component on a car, but the truth is that they are attached to other parts of a car. The suspension kind of works like a team. If any one component is damaged or not working right, it affects the other suspension pieces.
