1995 Infiniti G20 from North America

Summary:

A great car for anyone

Faults:

- Replaced the front tires after purchasing the car.

- The ABS light is on and won't go off, no big deal, though the brakes still work great.

- Replaced the HVAC resistor, a commonly replaced part on these vehicles.

General Comments:

This is the most reliable car I have ever owned. It starts every time and hasn't broken yet.

I have only performed regular maintenance for a car of this age, including tune up, oil changes, replaced two tires. Other than that the car is bullet proof. I still get 30 MPG combined hwy and city driving. All of the electronics still work, including the windows which are known to break.

One of my friends had a 93 G20, which went to 385000 miles until the engine finally blew up. Nissan put a lot of time and money into research in the SRDE20 engines, which is why these cars last forever. I would recommend the car to anyone looking for a basic reliable car.

1995 Infiniti G20 SR20DE from North America

Summary:

Good car, buy the manual instead

Faults:

Most of the issues with the car were fixed from the previous owner, like the brakes and rotors, and the head gasket due to an engine leak.

A few things he didn't fix were the instrument cluster, cause the speedometer only works when it wants to, and the tachometer doesn't work at all, but I'm not too worried about the tachometer.

Sunroof leaks pretty badly.

General Comments:

Gets good mpg highway, much better than my old BMW, which I still own.

Has a decent sense of speed, nothing spectacular though. Hoping to make something outta it in the end. For all those out there don't go with the automatic, I've read nothing but negative reviews about them, mostly anyway.

1995 Infiniti G20 2.0L from North America

Summary:

Many repairs for an old car, but drives great

Faults:

Alternator was dead when I purchased it (104,000).

Many fuses were blown (104,000).

Windshield wiper motor is gone. (104,000)

Rear left caliper was worn out. (104,000)

There is an electric leak from the rear lights. (104,000)

CV Boot broken at 110,000.

Weather stripe pealing off at 104,000.

ABS controller not working at 104,000.

Brake light switch (under the pedal) bad at 110,000.

Two engine mounts at 110,000.

Shaking at 65MPH on highway, needed an alignment (120,000).

Air intake box had a crack and needed to be sealed (120,000).

Water pump replaced at 122,000.

One major coolant hose under the engine started to leak (124,000).

Oil pan has some leak (no repair done so far).

General Comments:

The car was obviously abused when we got it. The paint was very good. Inside is dirty, leather seats had some wears and rips. The engine and transmission were good. But it definitely had an electric problem before: dead alternator, blown fuses, ABS controller unit dead, a small electric leak from rear combination lights. But it's a cheap car, so we bought this 11 year-old car.

The alternator was changed at 104,000 when we got it, and recently again at 120,000. The first one stopped putting enough voltage and the dash/front lights started to dim intermittently. It might just be a bad alternator. We fixed the electric leak by ourselves.

The car drives great. It's smooth and quiet, except some rattling noise from lower glove box. Handling is good too, very responsive. The interior is well designed. Lack of cup-holder is a major problem. Seats are comfortable, I especially like the waist support design.

The repair cost is reasonable. Nissan parts are easy to find both new and used. I replaced some parts myself with used ones. For a car with 11 years of service and some abuse history, I figured the repair and overall condition is reasonable.
