This is great to find! I am looking at buying a 2000 I30, and your comments are very helpful. I was very impressed with the car, and after reading your review and those of others, I believe that I will buy it at the beginning of the week! Thanks!

I own a 2000 I30 base model!

Only items replaced are the belts, front and rear brakes, cabin air filters.. about 80,000 miles on it as of now!

I think I will have the struts and shocks replaced.. And have the spark plugs and O2 sensors replaced for better mileage... Best car I have owned... Styling still looks very good too!

I bought a 2001 I30 yesterday. I like it so far.

I also own a 300ZX (1988 2+2 Turbo, Canadian car, 205000km). It has been a fantastic car, and I expect the same from the Infiniti.

Ben.

OK, same owner, now at 160K. The SES light is gone! yay! Wasn't cheap though (catalyst converter; $700.00). The suspension noise turned out to be a broken grommet or something cheap. She still runs like new, A/C is still cold, everything works! Were looking to get a new G35 in the fall, but we will keep the I30, as it is so trusty! Never seen a tow truck!

OK, same owner, now at 193k miles. Car has been virtually trouble free for the last year or so. Plans to buy a G35/Maxima/M35 have been delayed thanks to the economy. Why buy a new car when the old one is fine? It still runs great and the wife is on a 500 mile road trip as I speak. It's easily been the best car we've owned. No oil consumption or leaks, and the A/C is still frigid cold, and it has never required any attention since our ownership.

Same Owner:

The car now has 227k miles and has had the alternator replaced, that's it.

This car has been great!

Thanks for the updates to your review, it is very helpful for those (like me) who are looking to buy a similar car.

Thanks so much for the comments on the Infiniti. I have a 2000 Maxima with 50,000 miles, and have replaced 1 coil since I owned it. If I ever have to replace another, I will do the other six. Other than that, it feels and looks new. I've been lucky and never had to replace anything else (I guess that is attributed to 50K miles in 11 years). About the smoothest car I ever had.

Thank you so much for the updates. They are really helpful for those of us looking to buy one of these cars. I wish others would make a practice of sharing their experiences periodically with their cars. I think I am going to do it with the next car I buy. I hope it will be as helpful to others as your comments have been.

Same owner. The car now has 248,000 miles!

Since the last update, it has needed the other catalytic converter replaced and a brake job, but otherwise just general maintenance.

The fan motor is a tad noisy, but the A/C is still cold and the heat hot. It is definitely showing its age. Leather on driver's seat is ripped and the car doesn't seem to be as peppy as it used to. However, the car has never left anyone stranded, nor has it seen a tow truck. Easily the most reliable car we've ever owned.

I actually purchased a 2003 Infiniti QX4 with 65k miles on it last month because I knew I could drive it for another 200k miles with minimal repairs.
