I have a 92 j30 ve30de 270 k.

Mine goes great and is a awesome cruiser.

I get a chuff chuff sound comes from the heater ducting somewhere sometimes, any ideas?

For the folks who have No indicators, try cycling the hazard switch half a dozen times as the power for the indicators goes through this.

Please put a sheet of plastic over top of your ecu behind the stereo in case the heater core fails, mine didn't have this and the heater core caused the ecu to die. big job to replace the heater core, 9 hours to pull it apart and 8 back together.

Today I bought a 94 J30 and it is overheating. I can drive a couple miles then it's pegged at hot, smoke pouring out, and you can hear it boiling. I took it to a mechanic and they flushed the radiator for possible air bubbles. Car ran in the shop for a long time and no problems. I drove away and 1/2 mile later it overheated. Any suggestions?

#Possible Transmission problem#

I have had a 93 j30 for about 3 years, in that time I replaced the timing belt, and some minor repairs.

---

Recently I have had problems accelerating from first gear to second. The RMPS go up to 5 and then it kicks into 2nd. On top of that the engine is really loud and has no pickup. Sometimes when pressing the gas the car does not respond at all.

---

Is this due to the kick-down to the transmission (a mechanic told me that), or Can anyone relate to this problem Help! I need a clue before a mechanic takes me for all I got.

Anyone know the part number of that ABS relay? I called my Infiniti dealership and said I need a ABS relay, and they had no idea what I was talking about, but it does make that buzzing noise after I shut the car off, and it stays going. It actually killed a battery because I didn't know it, but it ran all night.

Thanks a lot.

WOW! What a great site! I've read most of the comments and my 1993 J is no exception. I purchased this gem from my former boss, who took immaculate care of this beast. The transmission replaced by Infiniti at 75,000 miles. I've had the following replaced: all window motors, all belts including the timing belt, all filters, struts, plugs, etc. It runs like a champ.

My dash lights just died! I read several comments about the dimmer switch, I cleaned it... but that did not work. Then I called the dealer, they wanted $290 for a new dimmer switch! Well I went to the local "U Pull It" junk yard and got one for $2.59 along with a door handle. The dimmer switch from a 1994 J worked. Let there be light!!!

OK the radio just died. I sent to Williamson Electronics in Texas as mentioned in a previous comment, but no luck. They said it was beyond repair and tried to sell me a rebuilt one for $290! No thanks. Looking at a couple on Ebay for $100.

OK, after all that... I do need some help with the driver headlight, it has a mind of it's own. Sometimes it's on and then just goes out. I changed the bulb and checked the wiring, but no luck. I saw comments about a relay switch, but I can't find it. Fire wall or behind the bumper? I'm not going to give up! 191,000 miles and still going strong.

My Infiniti J30 is a piece of crap. It had frozen calipers, the radio didn't work, sunroof didn't work, and now my hicas and ABS light is on.

I have a broken bolt in my RF speed sensor.

I am trying to find out how to reset the hicas light so I can sell this rat box...

#1 They're ugly

#2 They suck on gas

#3 They're ugly looking

#4 They are similar in appearance to an Altima with bigger wheels

I have a 1993 J30, And it is driving me crazy!!! I have taken it to people and each of them have told me different things the problem could be. The Car will work one minute, then just die and wait a couple hours, then start right back up. The car will also die if I push down on the gas pedal. I am giving up on the car, I have finally put a for sale sign on it for $1,000. So if there are anyone wanting it, send an e-mail at bkleeman@insightbb.com.

OK, well I have a 94 J30 t and read all the posts here. I have some problems with the car, but have found the means to fix most of it, and thought I should share what I have found:

As for the blinking light while trying to start the car, and it will not start = that is due to the alarm on the car. Use your key to unlock the doors. If that doesn't disarm it, I have found that if you open the trunk with the key, that will disarm the alarm too.

As for the headlight relay, it is on the drivers side right behind the strut tower. It will have 2 plugs to it, and the solder joints are known to break inside the relay. I was able to re solder that and headlights stay on now.

If you have others that I could help you on, email me at pwh24@hotmail.com

Also I am looking for front struts. If any one has 2 to sell, let me know.

I want to say "thank you" for those who share J-30 experiences here. I have a 94 J-30 163K for nearly 5 years and it ran great. This after noon, I suddenly realized that I can't start my car, even though I pressed the gas pedal during ignition. The battery seemed OK, I even asked one friend to jump it in a heavy rain today, just in case the battery is short of energy. Then, I suspected maybe it is due to the cold weather at Boston for the previous dates. Just before I wanted to call AAA, I googled J-30 start problem. I found this forum, which has so much helpful information. I got the following message posed on 2006 January and gave it a try immediately afterwards, it worked! It was exactly what happened and what I observed. Last Sunday, I moved my car from one parking spot to another and turned it off.
