Got a 1993 J30 with 193,000+ miles on it. Had the headlight problem, just rewired headlight to its own switch inside and that fixed up. Am having problem with bright lights, one side will go out, then the other, then both back on. Installed my own dashlight as the completely stopped working. The radio works when it wants too. Cannot find any real reason for my problem. Seems to loose power, but I can press the cd eject button and it will eject (or try to eject) the cd so I know it has some power there. Is there any way of fixing or rewiring that so it works OK? 193,000+ miles and still going strong. Would love to have radio back.
A/C still works, I just need to replace the blower motor.

Hi all, I own a 94 J30 with 97000 miles. I have the headlight problem where the right one will go out after a few seconds. I understand that there is a relay somewhere above the driver wheel. Does it say "lights relay" on the box and does it have 2 of them in it? Any help is appreciated as the Infinity Parts people have no clue!

I am considering buying a 1993 Infinti J30 with 154,000 miles on it. It appears to run well and is in mint condition. They won't take less than 3500. Should I or should I not? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Just bought a J30 for my sons first car, 1993 with 78K. Picked it up from dealer, turned on headlights, out went dash ,radio, and temp control lumination. I called the dealer and he said I do not know what the problem could be, I may have to bring it to the Infinity dealership. Not really confident with his answer I called my mechanic and made an appointment. I did not care about the expense, this is my sons first car the one we all remember. Well after reading all the J30 owners comments, I went outside with some sort of tool, banged on the dimmer wheel and guess what? I have seen the lights, everything works. Thanks to all for your money saving tips, and for my sons smile when I tell him " you can drive your car at night you have lights.

Just bought a '93 J30t for $1500. Only two things bother me. First is the antenna stopped working. I can hear the motor, it's just like it's not catching or something. I can manually push it, and it takes over and pulls it down at about a foot.
Second thing is my front drivers side speaker that's out. Is that the Clarion issue? and they'll fix it for free??

I have a 1994 Infiniti J30 with 145,000 miles and have a similar issue with the dash lights not working. I have repaired the dimmer like everyone said and then replaced the dimmer switch, but the dash lights still do not work. Does anyone know what is the next step to repair the dash lights?

I have a 93 J30 infinity and we love the car. We have some minor and major issues with it at this time.
1. The car was running a little rough and the engine vibrated at low speeds. This effected the gas mileage. I took it to the nissan dealership and had a diagnostics check done and they told me that I had a dead injector. Cost to replace one injector 550.00$ (ouch). Still, I like the car. Anyone else have this problem and maybe a cheaper fix?
2. I can hear a thumping in the front suspension while driving. I know that the bushings in the sway bar need to be replaced and would also get rid of the HICAS light that is constant on my dash display. Any suggestions on this?
3. Left headlight sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I know this has to be a short because when I open and close the hood or hit a bump the light will go out. Maybe a loose connection too, but just can't trace the short. Any suggestions?
4. I too had the dimmer switch problem problem, but once I replaced it my problem went away and I can now see my dash display without having to turn on the overhead light.
We like our J30 and even when she is running rough she still runs better than any other vehicle that I have owned.

I have a 93 J30T, The dashboard lights don't work anymore, no matter how I try to bang on it, it just doesn't work. I see something about dimmer switch, I'm not exactly sure how to replace it.
Also, my car just started over heating, its not leaking, but, you can hear it boiling, I've added the proper amount of coolant. I'm going to take it to a mechanic, and see what they say. I mean this car has been nothing, but problems, 1st the radio didn't work I replaced it, its fine now, 2nd the driver side didn't open with the key or the key-less entry. I got it fixed, next the dashboard lights, now the overheating.

I am considering purchasing a 1993 infinity j30, 138000 miles. The owner says that the problem with the car is that it needs an "ignition power transistor unit", according to a Nissan dealership. The current owner told me this.
The car will run for about 45 minutes and then die and will not start again until the engine cools all the way down.
The car is in great shape otherwise and the price is right if it is a $300 or $400 fix.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Help: does anybody have a problem with the 1993 J30, stalling out at low rpm or cutting out going over a speed bump a little fast?

I used to have a 97 Q45 with 180k miles on it and it was great so I just picked up a 94 J30 that had been sitting for 7 months. I have done the normal maintenance: battery, tires, brakes (frozen rear caliper), and plugs. But like almost everyone else the idle will be fine and then just die out. It will always restart, but with a really rough idle and I don't know what is causing it. Has anyone had any luck? I have read fuel filter, oil pump, and would like to know if anyone has resolved their problem.

I have just bought a 93 j30 and I am having a problem with the sunroof. It is stuck in the middle and will not open or close anymore. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or even just close it.
