I've had this Jeep for two years now and I still love it, some thru metal rust arround the seat frames under the body, but that is it.

The biggest downside to this truck is the clutch system, when the master cylinder went brake fluid leaked all over the fuse block and damaged it, had to replace the entire clutch system. As of today the starter is going, but those are the only problems I've had in two years and almost 30K miles. Odometer now reads 206.5K miles.

1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 6 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Truly remarkable if well maintained

Faults:

This jeep has had a fair amount of things replaced since I've bought it in Oct. 2001. I've had all the normal parts that go on a car replaced, plus all the recommended tune ups.

In 2002 I replaced the brake lines, oil pressure gage, alternator, vacuum lines, water pump, and idle pulley

In 2003, I replaced the 4x4 vacuum fork, exhaust manifold, ignition module, one of the tie rods, the brakes, track bar, battery, and fuel filter.

Up until Oct. 2004, I've replaced the rear shocks, serpentine belt, muffler, valve cover gasket, rear left leaf spring and recharged the A/C system.

General Comments:

I got this jeep through a dealer trade really cheap, off a couple from Louisiana. no rust, and only had 113k after 11 years on the road. well it might have seen warmer days, the coldest of New Hampsire winter mornings doesn't stop it from starting at -45 F. I mean this thing is so reliable its not even funny. excellent in the snow, almost impossible to spin out. the looks of this car is so beautiful, I don't think chrysler could have done a better job in designing the white with Grey trim Laredo edition for 1990. to this day 14 years later, it still looks up to date. just a beautiful looking car. I've never had transmission or engine problems, even with 192,000. just think of a place it hasn't been, and its been there. you literally can't drive this thing into the ground, I've already tried. since I've had it, 5 of my friends have gotten jeeps and because of this car I will never in my life drive a different type of vehicle.

You are very lucky you don't have the fuel costs we have here in England.

1990 Jeep Cherokee Sport 6.0 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Reliable high performance SUV

Faults:

Driver's seat back won't fold.

Rear wiper won't work.

Seal on oil pan leaks.

Air conditioner doesn't cool.

Had to replace ignition.

General Comments:

Reliable and powerful. Shakes a bit on the highway near 70mph, but still a joy to drive. Has survived desert, snow, and bog mud off-roading, although it's not a strong in the mud. I love it.

1990 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0 from North America

Summary:

For $200, a real blast in the woods!!

Faults:

Overheated after an engine swap. The 1990 4.0 was tired, put in a 1997 H.O. engine. Had air trapped in cooling system, now all is well!

General Comments:

After trimming the fenders, removing the sway bars, welding the front and rear differentials, removing the carpet and head liner, adding 31" or 32" tires, this thing is great!!!
