You all need to look at the years involved. I had a 1995 JGC Laredo, 6 Cyl., Select Trac. Fantastic!!! I drove the heck out of it, and it never whimpered. I turned it over to my employees, and they drove the heck out of it. No problems at all. All I did was put oil and gas in it. I needed a new vehicle, so I bought a 1999 JGC Limited with all of the bells and whistles. I have been reading these forums in several sites, and I have experienced every problem listed with this vehicle, except the window regulator. I mean every problem! Now, I am a JEEPER from long ago, with the Willy's, Renegade and military Jeeps, so don't tell me I don't know the vehicle or how to drive it. To add credence to my observations, I have also been driving a 1998 Ford Expedition V8 XLT since it was new. I have had a window problem on it. That's it. All I do is put oil and gas in it, and it just keeps going. It has 67K Miles on it, and the Jeep has 52K Miles on it. I have towed a 30' Bayliner on a three-axle trailer with the Expedition for several years and many miles. No problem!

The problem is the 1999 JGC was a whole new design from all previous models. From the reports that I am seeing, the problems are being worked out slowly from year to year, so about 2002 or 2003 most of them seem to be reduced to a manageable level. I am looking at a 2002 Overland right now and strongly considering it as a replacement for my Limited. I think the size and maneuverability of the Jeep makes it the standard by which all others are judged. The 1999 was just a bad year! Accept it! Move around it. If you are afraid of the Jeep, buy an Expedition.

Happy Driving.
