2007 Kia Sorento ex from North America

Summary:

I've owned 21 vehicles and this is the worst purchase I've ever made!

Faults:

My rotors had to be replaced at 500 miles and again at 9500 miles. Now the vehicle is at the dealership again with the same issue and only 11500 miles.

I have had the transmission shutter at 60 and 65 mph with no explanation. The dealership refuses to acknowledge a problem. Now it shutters at 30-40 mph and at 60-65 mph. The dealership has yet to repair it.

The passenger door will not shut if the vehicle is locked with the auto door lock button while the passenger door is open.

The dome light has never worked properly.

The back glass door (hatch) will not open with the key control consistently.

General Comments:

The car is a maintenance nightmare; rotors 3 times in 12k miles. The Service manager actually told me I couldn't use the brakes going down a hill! I live in the mountains. The dealership is in the mountains. The vehicle is comfortable and rides well, but in no way shape or form would I buy another or recommend these vehicles, at any cost, to someone else. Even if the vehicle was free I would have spent the equivalent of a car payment each month on just the items I've mentioned.

Sounds like a Kia/Hyundai. We won our's and its been more or a nightmare than anything else. The dealers are bent on making money when you bring the car in for warranty service.

Given that I've literally read hundreds of reviews of the 2007 model Sorento, most by very happy owners, it seems as if you got a dreaded lemon. Sorry about that; it's totally a bummer, and an expensive one at that!

Shouldn't you have returned the vehicle ASAP when it started having significant problems at low mileage? That's what the "lemon law" is for after all...

2007 Kia Sorento EX 3.8 litre V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A good car to own and drive

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong - too early to tell - but I doubt anything will go wrong.

If the driver & passenger seats could be adjusted a little more high (for us short people), it would be a great plus.

General Comments:

Good handling.

Quick on acceleration.

Easy to handle.

Sound system is pretty good.

This is a follow-up on the review - now that I have had the Kia Sorento for over six months - and clocked up nearly 7600kms.

Would like to add that whatever I mentioned in my earlier Review - still Holds Good. Very satisfied with the Vehicle. Still need to trial it off road.

The towing is great - I pull a 1.9 tonne, 20ft (6.15mt) boat and hardly know it is there.

2007 Kia Sorento XT 2.5 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

The thinking man's 4x4!!

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

This is my first Kia & my first diesel... well impressed with it so far. Pound for pound, the best 4x4 I have ever owned. I traded in a Range Rover 4.6HSE for the Kai and I would not entertain another RR.

I have driven a ML270 Merc back to back with the Kia and it was hard to believe that there was 20k difference in the price tag!!!

I opted for the XT rather than the popular XS and I personally feel that the XT was worth the extra few grand.

Don't let the Kia badges put you off, I have owned BMW's, Merc's, Volvo's, a Shogun, a Cherokee & the above mentioned Range Rover and I wouldn't swap the Sorento for any of them.
