2001 Kia Sportage 4x4 limited edition 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A worthless piece of machinery

Faults:

Since owning the car I have had to replace 5 catalytic converters, 1 fuel pump, the engine, the electrical system, the moldings on the windows because they leaked, exhaust leaks and when the engine was replaced they did not tighten the bolts so I lost bolts to the engine. I have also replaced 2 times all 4 cylinders.

General Comments:

This car is unreliable, it has cost me money even though you have roadside assistance they are worthless. I have had to lay out monies for car rentals, I have lost out on vacations, I have lost time at work, I missed concerts all money unrecoverable.

The car should not have been sold.

2001 Kia Sportage Base 4 cyln. from North America

Summary:

Worst than Junk!

Faults:

Let me start by saying, "What has not gone wrong with this vehicle and the one before it?!"

The rear window took 3 months to fix due to a bad motor in the drivers door and they insisted replacing the motor in the passenger door six other times first.

The wheel bearing were so loose I almost lost a wheel before it could be fixed.

The seats are extremely uncomfortable.

It came equipped without Air Conditioning.

The Alloy Wheels are rusting. (I know Alloy does not rust so the deal mislead me as to what kind of wheels were on it)

The radiator leaks.

The spare tire Squeaks all the time and has since about two months after purchasing it.

The first day I brought it home, I discovered the heater was not working, but the dealership would not take it back so I had to rent a car until it could be fixed.

The windows do not seal off properly.

The Sephia was ten times worst than this Sportage though.

The Sephia throttle would stick and the dealer said it was okay to drive until the part came in. That's the reason for trading for the Sportage.

Getting parts seems to be the biggest problem. It takes a trip to the dealer to inspect the problem and two more weeks to order the parts and then two more weeks to order more parts and so on.

General Comments:

The best advice I have is Don't buy a KIA. I've had 2 and neither one actually worked for a month without needing repair.

Oh yeah, check the KBB for the value of these cars because it doe not hold its value.

90% of ALL Kia's do NOT come standard with A/C! That is just one of the numerous ways they are able to keep the costs down!

2001 Kia Sportage EX 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

It is a piece of junk.

Faults:

Transmission Seal went.

CV Boot Seal replaced.

Oil Leak that Service could not find let alone fix.

Both Rear Power Window motors replaced.

Gas Gage Died.

General Comments:

From the first scheduled service on this vehicle was nothing but trouble.

The key issues were fluid leaks, from the engine, cv boots, transmission. All of these could have been forgiven however the service technicians could never fix them!!! They continually came back.

The truck was in for service almost as much as it was in my driveway.

Additionally, the interior quality was poor. Wind noise was unbelievable, I thought I was in a wind tunnel at times. Dials for the heat and vents became loose and eventually fell off.

***Everyone should own a well made car*** - this is KIA's motto.

Well, now I do. I traded this nightmare in for a 2002 Jetta TDI and after 40,000kms I haven't done a thing to it except for its regular maintenance (and I'm getting 50mpg to boot!!!).
