1999 Lexus RX 300 from North America

Summary:

A bargain luxury SUV

Faults:

The indicator light for the "drive" mode went out a month ago. Didn't fix it since it's just cosmetic.

The remote key does not work occasionally; have to unlock manually, remote then works. Would welcome any comment on the cause of this problem.

Noticeable wind and acceleration noise.

General Comments:

I bought my rx300 used, but other than replacing the tires and general maintenance, have not encountered serious problems yet. Very comfortable ride, once you get used to the wind and acceleration noise.

1999 Lexus RX 300 3.0 six cylinder from North America

Summary:

A comfortable, affordable used luxury vehicle.

Faults:

Nothing major as of this writing.

I did notice that there is a rattle in the windshield area when I go over bumps in the highway. It sounds like some part of the wiper arm maybe bumping against the window.

I noticed also that the metal part of the seat restraint was hitting/rattling against the side frame of the car.

There is a lot of wind noise when the moon roof.

General Comments:

I have never owned an SUV, let alone a Lexus. Its all new to me. It's a quiet vehicle, and that's what I love. The seats are a little short for me (I am 5/10) but comfortable enough. You can feel the difference of the all wheel drive, especially going slow around town. And the gas mileage isn't bad either... I am getting about 22 mpg on the highway.

1999 Lexus RX 300 2WD 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Reliable car with a nice engine

Faults:

I have got to say that the car had nothing wrong with it.

The seats however are getting a little bad, but it is leather, so what can you do.

General Comments:

The car has pretty good performance, even though it is not as fast as some other cars, but for a car in that price that is an SUV, it is pretty good.

The car is very comfortable, but if you are close to or bigger then six feet, you will not have very good head room.

1999 Lexus RX 300 from North America

Summary:

A good solid deal with Toyota like dependability

Faults:

Acceleration pedal was gummy. That is you had to exert extra push power at the beginning of acceleration then back off as it suddenly surged.

General Comments:

A fine ride just short of luxurious.

A comfortable and spacious interior though a bit too much wind noise on the highway.

Braking is a dream. Many times I thought I was in trouble, but stopped gently, well short of the bumper of the guy in front of me.

Marveled at the powerful 6 ability to get off the line though the passing gear was a little disappointing at highway speeds.

View out the back window is really distorted and objects may be a lot closer than they are.

I agree, the braking system on this SUV is unbelievable. I knew for sure I was going to tag a guy in front of me, but somehow the car stopped. The seatbelt even left a bruise.

Note: The drums do get warped after awhile causing some vibration when braking, but my first set of pads did last 100K.

RacerX.

1999 Lexus RX 300 from North America

Summary:

An extraordinarily comfortable vehicle, well-worth the cost

Faults:

The car has repeatedly made weird noises -- high-pitched humming sounds. It has come and gone but doesn't seem to affect performance.

General Comments:

The interior is one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced.

The back seat is very comfortable, even when seating several adults.

The engine is extraordinarily powerful and still very quiet.

The all-wheel drive makes for great handling in winter.
