1994 Lincoln Continental Excutive 3.8L V6 from North America

Summary:

Looks nice not too bad for a 1994

Faults:

Digital dash replaced

Dash goes crazy says there's no oil pressure yet had checked and there is the DCL (data communications link) almost never works and just does annoying beep. the air ride sags overnight, but pumps back up in no time once the car is started rocks back and forth in park. Runs very bad when engine is cold and is very underpowered for the size of the engine 160hp for a 3.8l v6.

General Comments:

Looks very nice, rides well, great highway car would be very much better if had more power.

1994 Lincoln Continental signiture series from North America

Summary:

This car made me want to kill myself

Faults:

Basically everything.

General Comments:

I love the style of this car, I am a real Lincoln fanatic, and will only drive Lincolns, but I don't know if I should laugh or cry when I see one of these (88-94) continental on the road! Traditional styling, but somehow sporty looking when detailed, this car was fun to clean and look at because it reminded me of my 70's era lincs somehow, but it was nothing, but a pain, and made a grown man cry on many occasions Amazingly I drove mine back and forth from Detroit to Nashville about six times!! It would periodically just shut down while driving on the freeway!? Then start back up like it was fine. It almost killed me, when the head gasket blew I traded it in still owing a lot on the car, but thankful nonetheless, My 98 conti is the best car ever.

1994 Lincoln Continental Executive 3.6 from North America

Summary:

Hind sight - 12 years ago should have bought a Honda!

Faults:

Head Gaskets blew, but were covered by extended warranty of Ford Motor. Air suspension went and I replaced it with standard shocks. Way too expensive to replace with new air bags. Had to replace front wheel bearings last year along with battery. Still haven't needed a tune up. The driver side door won't open from the inside and the window is touchy. Had to reinstall the rear view mirror about three times before it stayed in place finally. The anti lock brake light is on for no reason. Had to fix the antenna once.

Still get static at times on radio.

Have to recharge air conditioning every summer. Won't hold its charge. Probably a leak.

Small rust spots developing over back wheels. The leather seats (especially the driver's seat) are starting to be very crackled looking. Now the blower for the heater and air won't shut off.

General Comments:

I still like my Lincoln except for the problems. I have maintained it well and it still looks good. It has always been pretty darn good on mileage and was the last series to still burn regular fuel, so it's cost effective. It's annoying all the small things that have gone wrong, i.e. power doors and windows when you consider it was a $30,000.00 car back then. That was a lot of money!

1994 Lincoln Continental EX from North America

Summary:

I great, affordable, nice-looking luxury car, if you are willing to take good care of it

Faults:

When I bought the car, I knew of its problems. It had two bad motor mounts, a bad left axle, the rear door didn't open from the outside, the moonroof didn't function either. The water pump was also going bad.

I paid about $700 for the following repairs (parts and labor included) :

Replaced the motor mounts.

Replaced water pump.

Put in a new belt.

Fixed rear door.

Replaced front left axle.

General Comments:

For the purchase price of the car the repairs were worth it. I now have a great luxury car. The ride is fantastic. Bumps? What bumps?? Comfortable leather seats (with adjustable power seating), a moon roof - even though it doesn't work - power windows, locks, keyless entry, automatic climate control, effective and quick air conditioning and heater, and a great factory stereo add to the comfort and luxury of this vehicle.

This car is for owners who take good care of their vehicles only. If you do the required maintenance on this car and take really good care of it, it will be a great car for you. If you don't take care of it or try to drive it like a sports car you can expect all of the electrical gadgets and fancy luxuries to have problems.
