"The most reliable vehicle you'll ever own"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Timing belt broke at 60,000 without damage to the engine.

Clutch first replaced at 90,000.

Master brake cylinder replaced at 130,000.

Head gasket blew at 110,000.

General comments?

I bought this car for $6500 in 88. The best deal I ever made. For 14 years this car has taken better care of me than my wife. It has never let me down!!! It runs and runs and runs even when totally ignored. I still get over 20 mpg in the city. It's a little underpowered, but still as much fun to drive as a jeep if you know what to do. I make $140,000 per year, but would hang on to this baby if I could (my wife needs the money). However, someone just totaled it in a rear end collision. I'll never get what it's truly worth.

I bought my 1986 Mazda B2000LX long bed right off the lot

in September of 1985. it was the actual demo truck with 90 miles already on it. that's how inexperienced I was back then. I was actually looking for a toyota at the time

and it was my first new vehicle. to this day it has been like a wonderful loyal friend, the clutch just started to go out

at around 221,000 it still has the original transmission

I replaced the motor at 266,509 miles, I had intended to rebuild the 2000cc original motor, however it turned I was driving for quite some time with a cracked head?

Anyway it now has a rebuilt 2200cc, AC, power steering,

15 inch wheels etc etc, looks more like a 2000 something.

From time to time over the years I sometimes wish I had a full size truck or even a 4 wheel drive and fuel injection

would be great, but on the whole I have been able to modernize the Mazda to where I never plan to let it go

I would feel like I turned my back on a great loyal friend

Lord willing I will drive that gem right into old age

by the way it now has 279000 miles and runs like new.
