At 135,000 I replaced the Alternator, and at 195,000 I replaced the timing belt. I have had only 3 sets of tires on the vehicle the whole time I have owned it.
120,000 I replaced the ERG Valve.
I bought this truck brand new for 5795.00 and I got every penny out of it. I took it on several long trips and never experienced any problems with it. I have over exceeded its weight capacity on several occasions, and it always came through. I have driven over 200,000 miles on the original clutch. My Mazda was built in Japan, and all the stickers under the hood are in Japanese. My only regret is that I wish I had enough money back in 1986 to buy two and put one away, I love this truck.
Well, If you love it so much, why did you say "No" when asked, "would you buy another car from this manufacturer?"
Maybe he said "No", because Ford now owns 34% of Mazda.
Mazda trucks are not from Japan anymore...

87 B2000 136,000 miles,
still like new, (only new tires)
Ouch!
I have a 1986 b2000 also. Its kind of my baby. Bought it brand new in late 1985. I have 72000 on it and it is like new. I am from Maine and I hate to drive it in the winter. I have been forced to drive it about 3 different winters through its life. I just put a new set of tires on myself. It has developed a couple small rust holes only over the driver's side rear wheel well. I have not done anything except replaced the front brake pads and exhaust work. The oil sensor sprung a leak, and I had a heck of a time finding where it was coming from. I thought it was the valve cover, so decided to change the gasket, then decided to put a new timing belt in while I had things apart. It's a great truck, wish I had a new one too. This one will last me forever just using it summers I think. My wife has wanted me to sell it for the past eight years. Good luck to you all. Dave.
