1994 Mazda MX3 from North America

Summary:

The most reliable, economical and fun car!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with this car! It has been reliable and perfect in every way.

General Comments:

I have loved owning my MX3! It is getting old and so am I so I'm having trouble getting out of the car. That's the only reason that I'm selling her (it's quite low to the ground.)

The handling is fantastic and I found it to be quite peppy for a 4 cyl.

The gas mileage is great. I'm really going to miss this. I fill up with CAD$30 every two weeks. That gets me about 600km.

I would definitely buy Mazda again if they made a decent (and attractive) SUV. However, they don't right now so I'm going to have to try out a Hyundai.

1994 Mazda MX3 1.8 DOCH from North America

Summary:

I love my mx3.

Faults:

My timing belt broke, and when it did it broke the valve cover and warped the valves. So I had to replace the motor.

Now it is currently broken down with bad alternator.

General Comments:

I love my car.

It takes curves like you wouldn't believe.

It's fast, but it has a slow takeoff.

The seats are the most comfortable I have ever sat in, but the back seat is not made for taller people.

I would love to own another one.

My most aw-some mx3 gets great gas mileage, I get about 22mpg.

Even-though I have only had it for about two months, and it has left me stranded twice, I wouldn't trade it for any other.

1994 Mazda MX3 RS 1.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great!

Faults:

Gas tank needs to be replaced, but after 11 years that isn't too bad.

General Comments:

This is my second mx3. Picked up a 1994 V6 version after someone smashed into my 1995 4-cylinder. Very reliable car. Didn't have to do anything to the '95 except timing belt (which was due)

The 1994, has a lot of go. Will take out any factory civics (save the SI). Not too bad on gas for a V6. Very comfortable, takes corners like a breeze. It even throws you back into the seat when it's revving past 4000.

Overall a very good car (so good I got the second one). Gas tank needs to be replaced, but after 11 years, that's probably pretty normal. Other than that, no repairs except maintenance. You even get a few looks when you drive by in it. (Although the 12 inch subs help that!) Picked it up for $5500 with 118,000km so you're definitely getting a fair amount of car for the money.

Definitely recommend picking one up if you can get one, especially the V6.

9/10 on everything.

1994 Mazda MX3 V6 SE 1.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Power and looks, a real head turner that sounds amazing

Faults:

I have had no problems with this car so far, will be replacing the timing belt soon, but this is of my own choice!

General Comments:

This car is extremely smooth, the V6 engine powers through the rev range effortlessly and takes off at 4000rpm, pushing you back into the seat.

The interior is half leather, half suede, and very comfortable to sit in.

The boot is large for a coupe, I have never had any issue with the space.

The exterior is chaste white, with smooth curves and a lovely sporty design.

1994 Mazda MX3 V6 1.8 V6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A lot of car for not a lot of money

Faults:

Absolutely solid reliability, I have not owned it for very long, but nothing has gone wrong yet. Just a few small problems that I guess any 10 yr old car may have.

Starting problems when cold, cured by magnecore leads and NGK uprated spark plugs.

Rear hatch will not stay open, I don't know how much it would be to replace the hydraulic struts so I use a piece of wood to prop it open.

Slight rattle from stock exhaust system a month or so after I got.

General Comments:

This car is an extremely smooth drive, and makes progress even when you're not going for it. The engines torque and ability to pull in any gear, including fifth, is surprising. It is quick, not as fast as I had expected, but to be fair I bought it for the noise!

Mine has a Green Cotton induction Kit on it and a Powerflow cat-back exhaust system with a Ractive carbon fiber back box. It sounds amazing, very loud and with a strong resemblance to an F1 car. The noise is like surround sound!

The handling and steering weight are both superb, it is soft enough to relax on long drives yet with high ability and feel when you up the pace. Accelerating out of corners in the dry the grip levels are very high, but beware it is twitchy in the wet when you back of the throttle. The gear change is snappy, but when cold it does require a positive shift between gears. Mine has just had new disc's and pads all round that are now fully run in, these are superb for standard brakes.

The interior is simple and effective, the front seats are some of the best I have sat in, because they are supportive and comfortable. The two rear seats are neither, especially if you are tall as your head will touch the roof.

I find it such a nice car to drive and just take it easy in, yet when your going for it, it's all there with the character of a racer that you just wouldn't expect.

Oh, one last comment, the fuel economy is so bad! This is my first V6, and the amount of petrol it uses seems out of proportion with the actual performance. I normally get about 20mpg-25mpg...!

I think that the car sounds amazing and I want to buy one now!

I've seen you in your car and you look very sexy. Don't not put this on because I said that, as it's a good thing.

I don't know if other people will look as amazing in their Mazda MX-3's as Craig, because he was hot to begin with!
