1992 Mazda Xedos 6 1.6 from Greece

Summary:

15 years in love with my Xedos 6... and keeps going

Faults:

The air-condition compressor has been replaced after 325.000km.

General Comments:

After all-most 16 years in my hands, this car keeps making me smile every single time I am looking or driving it.

Very good acceleration for 1.6 (114 hp version) and perfect handling in all conditions. Very stable at high speeds.

If serviced well you will meet no problem at all. Due to that, after 360.000 km, I can still reach its top speed with no problem.

The interior is so luxury for its category, and so well designed that can easily can be compared with todays cars.

The car is so good (and safe) that I bought a second one for my son in 2003, and he faces no problems too.

Enjoy your cars, wherever you are, because the Xedos 6 is one of the best cars ever made...

The 1.6 engine has a timing chain or timing belt? Thank you.

Pretty certain it's a belt.

1992 Mazda Xedos 6 2.0 V6 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Class for brass

Faults:

Interior light didn't work.

HT leads needed replacing.

Timing chains rattled at start up for first few minutes.

General Comments:

Gives a quality of ride and build usually found in much higher priced cars.

Nobody I knew got within £4000 of guessing it's true value (£2500), or believed it was a ten year old car.

The V6 engine was silky smooth, handling was perfectly acceptable (for a front-wheel drive) and my Maz was always reliable - started 1st time every time.

Probably one of the best value 2nd hand cars ever - pick one up for peanuts after the massive depreciation has taken it's toll.

An absolute bargain.

P.S. It was so good I bought one in Australia (the badge name here is 'Eunos 500') when I emigrated!

1992 Mazda Xedos 6 V6 2.0 V6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

By far the best car on the roads that any amount of money can buy!!!!!

Faults:

I have had few problems apart from a few leaks when I first took delivery of the car. It's superb, beautiful and the best looking car on the road. Unfortunately I rolled it 2 weeks ago having totally lost control on a country lane in Dorset; I did a 360 spin and ended up careering into a farmer's field - through a barbed wire fence. It rolled and I am lucky to be alive! And surprisingly she was not a write-off. If I'd been in any other car I might be dead. Not only is the Xedos beautiful it's exceptionally well built too I would like to see any other car come out of such a horrific accident so well. She's in the body shop having a new driver's door and wing fitted along with a complete respray at the moment. But in a month's time she'll be restored to her former glory.

General Comments:

A young man should not be allowed to have such a car! But I'm going to drive more carefully from now on..... I promise.

A stunning, well designed, well built car that I believe will not age. It will simply mature and will always hold executive appeal. Miles better than any BMW etc. etc. etc.

I agree totally. I bought mine Nov '00 and she's my baby. Beautiful to look at (mine's Pearl White so very unusual :o) I get loads of nice comments etc and no-one knows what she is as she's a 'Grey'import with Japanese badges LOL.

Sleek without being flashy, fantastic engine, perfect interior. I wish Mazda were still making them although I couldn't afford a new one anyway LOL.

Your report was excellent and I don't think I have laughed so much in years.

good car. I agree. But will it not brake soon?

Hard enough work getting through the "warnings!" on the reply page.

Bought my Xedos 6 in Nov 02, she is a 1993 SE and with 82K on the clock a bargain with a full service history from Mazda.

Thought of you the other day as I lost concentration on a bend, did not prang, but the heart rate doubled!!!

Keep on motoring.

Lovely jubbly.

Just acquired my third Xedos 6 after a gap of three years getting the sports car bug out of my system. Registered Jan 2000 (true) with 10800 miles (full service history and from main Mazda dealer). Won't tell you what I paid as you will all commit suicide. Is this the lowest mileage example alive today?

There is no more beautiful car than this. Going to keep it for ever.

I would like to add my praises for this car. mine is going on 12 years and most people I encounter think it`s no more than 2 years old. Engine needs some work now, but I intend to also keep this car forever.

1992 Mazda Xedos 6 V6 SE 2.0 24v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Distinctive executive V6

Faults:

Drop link and brush on the nearside front and ignition leads needed replacing when the car was bought.

One of the hydraulic cam followers has developed a rattling and the steering rack is due for replacing.

Paint finishing flaking at certain points on the body.

General Comments:

An attractive looking car which is a pleasure to drive.

The smooth V6 provides very good motorway performance. V6 is almost inaudible when cruising around, and when driven hard it provides a refined engine note.

The tappets will not be rattling. It will be the cam gear anti rattle plate worn on the right hand exhaust cam.

20th Dec 2003, 02:20

Yeah it's the cam gear silencer arrangement, noisey stuff, but nothing to worry about.

Nasty Shifts from 1st - 2nd = rear gearbox mount.
